Al O'Kane[Folk-Rock]

Hooked on his guitar, Al has been performing for over Seven years, ever since he first started jamming with his three-piece rock band in an old west-country barn.
In 2003, he supported Jim Bob (Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine) on part of his acoustic UK tour, Thom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) & Chris Helme (Seahorses, the Yards). From then onwards Al's popularity as a solo performer has not stopped growing. More recently Al has been the support act for Kevin Ayers.
Although Al is busy playing solo gigs, he can also be spotted playing gigs alongside Tessa Bickers (a very talented acoustic singer songwriter). Their debut duo gigs have been very well received so far and they are hoping to work together a lot more. They are currently in the studio recording an EP.
With strong vocals and lashings of great guitar riffage, this 26 year old has a fresh approach to song-writing. Al mixes rock with folk, blues & pop, turning tales of love, loss and magic into funky yet sensitive soundscapes.
His influences vary from Led Zeppelin, Cream, Days of The New, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young and The Doors through to The Cure, Kate Bush, Coldplay, The Smiths, Radiohead & Little Feat, while his finger picking guitar style and endearing eccentricities recall the tender flair of Nick Drake.
Working hard on the gig circuit, Al has been performing far and wide; from pubs & bars across the southwest, to larger venues including acoustic clubs in Bath, Bristol, Salisbury, Yeovil & London.
Following a performance at the University of the West of England to a packed room of Freshers, as well as three live sessions on BBC Radio, Al's music is reaching out to an eclectic crowd.
Previous successes have also included three well-received appearances at Glastonbury Festival 2003, 2005 & 2007 on the Avalon café Stage.
