The Amigos[Festival, 5 piece]
Taking sounds from a bass-heavy dancehall groove through to up-beat electro-blues, The Amigos mix it up. Live gigs continued to attract great attention, including a sell out performance at the Venue in New Cross,Mystery tour (using a specially adapted double decker bus!) and supports for Country Techno Outlaws Alabama 3. To date they have self produced Two EP's and a 9 track Album, all of which sold out shortly after completion and the latter also featured re-mixes by respected grime DJ Blackmass. Recently the band have been working with acclaimed Drum and Bass producer Wickaman on a collaboration due for release later in 2007. The band continue to grow their following both locally and nationally, with the regular shows gaining a reputation for unique performances and outstanding music.

Fantastic The Berkhamsted Association football club, Berkhamsted on Sat 7th Jul 07
I've been a fan of the Amigos for a while but this set was one of the best I have seen in ages. I don't think I've ever jumped around so much and my ears are still ringing!
Loved the Happy Mondays cover at the end - the only bad point was that they finished... could have happily stayed until my ears bled!
Can't wait for Sheep Music!

The Amigos conquer all Lifeboat Inn, St Ives on Sat 26th Aug 06
All I have to say is that anyone who missed this gig is insane!
Saturday's performance was one of the best gigs ever from the best band on earth! The Amigos are definitely at their best with the new line up and now have a loyal and growing following wherever the gig may be. I will certainly never miss another!
In my opinion, the combination of the Amigos and Cornwall really is unbeatable.

Arriba Arriba!! The Green Man, Royston on Sat 6th Aug 05
Once again The Amigos delivered a blinding show, made all the better by the spontaneous dialogue with the hen party!
The staff and half the audience donned sombreros for the occasion and the band did not disappoint in any department.
The repartee had the crowd smiling from the start and the music cannot be matched by any pub band I know, simply because of the choice of songs and the way they were delivered.
The band's own compositions were mixed in with highly original versions of 'Disco 2000' and 'Up the Junction', the tracks from Pulp Fiction worked a dream and the final encore of 'Step On' (Happy Mondays style) provided a fitting finish.
Can't wait to buy their new CD later in the year and to see them again at The Green Man in November.

Mexican Spice The Grand Junction Arms, Tring on Sun 27th Mar 05
Good to see a local band that combine great musical talent with great comedy.
It wasn't the evening I was expecting - a meal on a bank holiday at a quiet canal side pub. By 11pm, I along with the rest of the overcrowded bar were all jumping up and down to a mixture of their own songs (which are quite catchy even if you don't know them) and great cover versions.
Covers I remember included: White Lines, Step On, Brimful of Asher, Clint Eastwood and Crazy Horses (partly played with a kazoo?). Inbetween songs jokes were thrown back and forth between the band and the crowd - all in good fun. Not convinced by their Mexican accents, more local than loco - but that was part of the amusement. If you want a great night of silliness and quality music then go and see this band, word of advice though - don't take your kids.
