Another Fine Show Another Fine Mesh on Fri 14th Mar 08
Review edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. AFM's 'return match' at the Black Horse was a great evening of music, song and dance. The evening consisted of 39 songs ranging from the sixties to the noughties.

AFM don't play that often and when they do they invite their many friends along, which makes for a great atmosphere - more a party than a gig! AFM's set skillfully mixed rock classics such as "Stairway to Heaven" with 'soon to be classics' from the the likes of Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The second set started with the comment that "these are all songs you'll know" - and we did! The audience sang along and danced their cares away until, all too soon, it was time for the encore and home.

Another Fine Mesh will be back in Barnet in May to make it three in row - catch them if you can!

Renewed faith! The Faith Stealers on Fri 1st Feb 08
The Faith Stealers's pageReview edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. I popped in to the Black Horse by chance but lordy these guys are good. As a Jam and Who nutter I couldn't believe my luck, loved the set list and never heard 'Tube Station' or 'Pinball Wizard' sound so fantastic. The sound went from aggressive in yer face 'Teenage Kicks' to more mellow stuff like 'New England' and the singer went solo on 'English Rose'... class!

The unique Britishness of the band (no fake American accents here) was how the mod sound was meant to be heard and the small venue added to the electric atmosphere.

Can't wait for the next one - don't know about Faith Stealers, these guys renewed my faith!

The Headline Act Another Fine Mesh on Sat 20th Oct 07
Review edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. Who could have predicted that Saturday's gig at the Black Horse in Barnet would have been an evening of two halves? For me the Rugby World Cup was the the warm up act and Another Fine Mesh the headline act... (not sure everyone else present would agree though). The place was full, the pub ran out of clean glasses and almost out of beer, but AFN played on!... and what a set it was. A powerful mix of songs covering thirty years of rock that had the audience singing along and as the night wore on, dancing their socks off.

The set included a number of new tracks which were well received and the Chilli Pepper songs went down particularly well. As the evening drew to its end the crowd were left wanting more - always the best way to end an evening!

If the supporting act had finished on time, we would have heard the full set. So next time it should be even better and I cannot wait to hear it.

Best we've had The Natalies on Fri 7th Sep 07
The Natalies's pageReview edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. I've seen most of the bands at the Black Horse at one time or another and I can say The Natalies are among the best to come here. The band were only let down by a technical failure (either that or the singer has a budding career in mime) but the music was wicked, full of classics, some 80's cheese and some bang up to date indie. The playing was excellent and the band were tight as you like.

These guys know what they are doing and really gave a great night - I'll be back to see them when they return.

Print 3 flyers per A4 page, with marked cutting guides. Hint: setting your start date to the first of a month, and your end date to the last day of a month, gives a neat heading on your flyer, e.g. setting 1 May 2008 and 31 Aug 2008 as the start and end dates will produce the heading: 'MAY - AUGUST 08'. Try it! You can also set the font size to a decimal value (e.g. 9.3) to make the gigs fit exactly onto the page.
