Bluescene at The Lion, Teddington[Music Venue]
Bluescene at The Lionpage owner has not set location, or page not maintainedThe Bluescene has been run by James Henderson since 2001.He was inspired by a venue of the same name that ran at The Crown in Twickenham in the 1960s.
Alexis Korner, Lowell Fulson, Jeff Beck, The Strawbs, Free and many others had performed there. The Lion in Teddington has been its home since January 2004, a welcoming and friendly Independent Free House, owned and run by an exceptional couple, Don and Myfanwy Witts. To accommodate The Lion's rapidly growing popularity in the area, it was extended and refurbished last year, but still retains its Victorian character. The music is great, the food is excellent and The Lion has won several awards for its real ales.
Bluescene gigs are on stage in The Lion's function room, an adjoining building with its own bar, great acoustics and low-lit, intimate atmosphere. The musical standards are high: Papa George, Steve Simpson, Zoot Money, Mickey Moody,Matt Schofield, Robin Bibi, Marcus Malone, Honeyboy Hickling, Two Timers, The Spikedrivers and, from the USA - Steve Arvey, Lightin' Willie and Gregg Wright.
Future attractions include The Papa George Band, Tommy Allen & Trafficker, The Monday Band, The Honeyboy Hickling Band, The Matt Schofield Trio, The Steve Simpson Band, The Marcus Malone Band, Giles Hedley & the Aviators, Sam Kelly's Station House and The Robin Bibi Band.
On those Saturdays when there isn't a Bluescene gig, Don, an ardent music lover, presents free live music in the bar - featuring the best solo and duo talent around.

No Nonsense Rockin' Wolftones on Fri 20th Apr 07
Wolftones's pageReview edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. A great set and delivered without too much delay between numbers. Difficult to highlight any single musician, they all played well. Loved the audience participation bit on Mustang Sally. So much stuff too that was unfamiliar with me but worked so well (Battleship Trains, Country Girl). Good, honest, no nonsense rockin'! Keep going guys!
