 What a Great Night The Vibes on Fri 22nd Feb 08 | |
  I was visiting relatives in Plympton and heard that The Vibes were playing at the Brook Inn, so thought I'd go along and was not disappointed.
The band played a large number of covers including stuff by The Arctic Monkeys, Snow Patrol, Razorlight and loads more and there didn't seem to be a weak link. My favourite was Dakota by The Stereophonics. Vocals were strong and the drummer was brilliant.
I understand that this was the first time the band had played at this venue, however it seemed as if all were enjoying it especially the staff.
They played one of their own tracks, which slipped seamlessly within the first set, a number of locals mistaking it for another band's track.
If you're after a really laid back evening, listening to great music then The Vibes are definitely the band to be seen.
They would fit well into the Manchester scene and look forward to seeing them in my local in the near future.

 They have quite a few bands at The Brook, but normally way too loud and not that brilliant. Red Vegas however were really good. It's obvious they enjoy the music and the whole entertaining experience as it was a really enjoyable show with plenty of interaction with us. It felt as though they wanted to make us have a good time just like they were.
The set they played was so varied and such a brill mix of oldies and new stuff, and all performed so well, and a good sound - not too loud. | |
