 Chris Smyth makes a big impression Chris Smyth on Fri 27th Apr 07 | |
 What a fantastic night! I have been to several of Chris Smyth's gigs in the past 3 years and have yet to be disappointed with his skill and songwriting ability.
During the two 45 minute sets Chris Smyth played a mixture of songs from his last two albums as well as a four new ones. The venue was small perhaps a little cramped but the intimate atmosphere definitely added to the power of the music.
Chris opened his first set with "Ruby Day" and "Spanish Stars" from Amber Lights and followed these great songs with my personal favourite "In Time" from his 2006 CD - This Is Our Factory (Let's Make Good).
Of the new songs Chris Smyth debuted this evening "Dreams of Ash & Fire" was a particular stand-out track. This was the first time Chris Smyth had played it live and it was amazing! The whole audience erupted in applause and cheers at the end of the song!
I will definitely be trying to get to the next Chris Smyth gig I can and am really looking forward to the next album.

Hint: setting your start date to the first of a month, and your end date to the last day of a month, gives a neat heading on your flyer, e.g. setting 1 May 2008 and 31 Aug 2008 as the start and end dates will produce the heading: 'MAY - AUGUST 08'. Try it! You can also set the font size to a decimal value (e.g. 9.3) to make the gigs fit exactly onto the page. | |
