Rating 6/6 : Brilliant Very Impressive O'Neill's, High Wycombe on Fri 6th Aug 10
O'Neill's's pagerated as one of our top reviews  As a gigging musician myself, it's extremely rare that I get to go and see a band (other than my own) in action. So having a rare 'free' evening, I made the journey down to O'Neill's in High Wycombe with the missus and a couple of friends to see Daft.

I'm glad I did!

Daft are a 5 piece band with a very professional attitude and stage setup. In fact, I felt a little bit ashamed looking at how tidy and uncluttered their stage was compared to the one I usually perform on!

The musicianship on display last night was superb. As a fellow muso, I have a little twisted side of myself which likes to watch out for mistakes/bummed notes etc when watching bands, but I was sorely disappointed in that regard last night!

The 2 guitarists Gary and Adam were fantastic, very talented, really in sync with each other and both have a great guitar sound that is neither too harsh or overbearing.

The bass player Nick, is one of the best I have had the pleasure of witnessing in a pub. He has a great tone, and was great to watch - his fingers were flying all over the place, never missing a note. He was also perfectly locked in with the drummer and solidly providing one half of a really great rhythm section.

As for the drums - brilliant - powerful, tight and without the common problem that many bands suffer from of speeding up and up and up as the adrenaline of the gig takes hold!

Graeme - Daft's frontman - is something else. His voice completely suits the style of music that Daft perform, he has a very clear and strong vocal and he really complements the other guys in the band perfectly. He exudes stage presence and is constantly on the move, keeping the crowd engaged and singing along. He managed to keep this up without letting up for a moment the entire evening. A lot of frontmen - myself included - could learn a hell of a lot from this chap!

Daft travel with their own soundman, who was also doing a grand job keeping feedback to a minimum - no mean feat considering how close the speakers had to be to the rest of the band - whilst monitoring their levels and keeping everything sounding great out front.

Whilst I confess some of Daft's setlist wasn't really my cup of tea (there were a few songs I didn't know - I think I'm getting on a bit!), I can honestly say that they played their socks off and every song - regardless of whether I liked the record or not, was played exactly as it should have been, and at least as good - if not better than the originals. The rest of the audience however, seemed to know the words to every single song and were having a blast from start to finish - they didn't stop singing and dancing until the band began packing away.

There were many great moments in the set - including great versions of "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N' Roses and "Buck Rogers" by Feeder (really nice vocal harmonies on that one by the way). But the real highlight of the set for me was Daft's cover of Meat Loaf's seminal classic "Bat out of Hell". It absolutely rocked the roof off the place! For the full 10 minutes that the song lasted, the whole audience was jumping, dancing, singing along - it really was superb!

I'm really glad that I finally had the opportunity to go and see Daft after hearing so much about them; I can honestly say that these guys are awesome!

I had the opportunity to meet the band during their break and they all seem like a really great bunch of lads who really have a passion for what they are doing. I wish them every success!

Check them out as soon as you get the chance, I promise you'll have a great night!

Thanks guys!

Rating 6/6 : Brilliant Musicianship and showmanship Private Function on Sat 10th Jul 10
What you did and achieved at the BIG Zero was quite outstanding in any terms, and I think that everyone who was there are now huge fans of !daft!

As you are aware, we have been doing this bash for a while now. This year was, for me, the last time. And did you make it happen with the biggest leaving blast ever. I simply cannot explain how I feel about what you did and how it made our guests feel and behave. We have always tried to do something a bit different - away from the norm - and where folk can really let their hair down without feeling self-conscious and worrying about what the neighbours might think - if you know what I mean.

A lady guest (no names without her permission) said to me:

"I just danced and boogied, I was soaked in sweat and very drunk... I have a daughter who has left university, another at uni, and a son who has just done his A levels. I have not done anything like your party for over 20 years and it was was the best time I can remember... ever!"

I have been given praise from so many people of every age and gender on basically similar lines.

And that was - in a very major part - down to you guys. Your musicianship, showmanship, and an unbelievable commitment to your audience. You took people to places that they had forgotten or never been. That is quality and a real result. I really want you to feel what I feel - very proud of what was achieved that night.

Rating 6/6 : Brilliant Truly without fault Rising Sun, Slough on Sat 3rd Apr 10
Rising Sun's page Following on from my previous review.. I did not lie! Last night proved that Daft really do keep getting better and better! Absolutely Fantastic to be precise!

There was not one person in the full to the brim pub that was not enjoying themselves. I'm surprised the roof did not blow off with the energy that was surging through The Rising Sun, Slough! And what is so great about Daft is the fact they have an amazing stage presence and also get the crowd fully involved with their sets, which is brilliant!

There is not much more I can say about Daft that has not been said already. All I can do is tell you that this band truly is without fault!

Without a shadow of a doubt this band has to be the best cover band I have ever seen.

Rating 6/6 : Brilliant Getting better and better Smokey Joe's Roadhouse, Maidenhead on Sat 27th Feb 10
Now I have seen !daft! quite a few times now and every time they keep getting better and better!

Last night at Smokey Joe's in Maidenhead was absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere was immense and they had the whole venue dancing and singing along together!

It is truly amazing to have so much talent in one band. From amazing vocals to epic guitar solos... All of the songs were flawlessly performed with so much passion!

One thing I was disappointed with was there was no acoustic set in the VIP room after, which on NYE was absolutely brilliant! Other than that there is not one bad word to be said about this band!

This is one band that I would highly recommend you seeing and I can bet my bottom dollar you will not be disappointed!

Keep up the good work guys, you truly are amazing! Be seeing you soon and can't wait to get down and boogie!
