The Dealers[Acoustic, Duo]
Recently voted "Best unsigned acoustic act" for 2006, Bessie Sayce and Pierre Vincent are original, charismatic, eccentric (note Bessie's trademark six-inch platform boots!) and are sometimes labelled "new folk". They play mainly their own material and a few carefully chosen covers.
"Anything that is more lyric-driven is automatically pigeonholed as folk. We want to stay away from that twee sort of folk. That's not our scene at all," says Bessie.
The Dealers are from Deal in Kent, and they have a loyal following throughout the Home Counties. Bessie, who can play saxophone, piano and guitar, mainly plays electric bass these days. She has been writing songs since she was three. Guitarist Pierre came to music relatively late at the age of ten!
According to Play Music magazine (July 2006), "This is a pair of songwriters for whom the acoustic rulebook is only there to be torn up!"
The Dealers first Album is called "Listen". released 2006. The Dealers second Album is called "TRINE TO THE Cheats" released 2007.
The Dealers new website is up and running, we believe that our website is quite unique, see what you think. All the information is there, you just have to find it, any problems or comments, please email us.

Destined for success The White Lion, St Albans on Tue 6th Feb 07
Once in a while someone new turns up and they blow you away, or should that be glue you to the spot. OK, this acoustic duo looked different, and good-looking at that.
Their stage was nicely lit with a braid of red lights around the performance area, their audience interaction gentle yet firm, and they oozed talent. One gorgeous song after another, voices that meld together beautifully, in spirit, rhythm and tune - sometimes it was difficult to know who was singing which part. Bessie played some guitar and bass, which in itself is unusual for most male/female duos, but Pierre's rich variation of styles on acoustic and electric guitars, plus some technical looping wizardry from a foot-operated machine kept everyone focused for the entire evening.
These songs have to be heard - the Dealer's CD, simply called 'Listen', is a treasure, a carefully built and still emotionally charged chapter of songs about love and life, with some great angles on how the loved-up mind can say the weirdest things.
The Dealers are touring later in 2007 - if you like your harmony rich and your acoustic material varied and lyrically involving, I recommend going to see them.
