Dundee Station are rock/pop recording duo Mac MacLaren (MacLaren Wall pop duo) and Nick Swannell (The Collective, Blondish, Czyxadorus, Fab Clocks, Spy 51, MacLaren Wall).
Departures is the result of 2 months of concentrated recording, mixing and writing at Nick's legendary Rockfish Studios in the South East of England (and as of 2009, based in South West Wales).
The songs represent new ideas garnered from previously written material, reaching back into Mac's prolific songwriting period in the '90s, mixed with a set of fresh new songs (Dirty Weekender, Small Stuff) and more recently written pieces with a more light-hearted, sometimes comedy, edge.
Recording Dundee Station allowed Mac to indulge in playing bass guitar and in co-producing many of the tracks; the Roxy Music-esque "Simple Sally" not only had him on bass and keyboards, but also provided a rare opportunity for a carefree traipse into parody (don't worry Mister Ferry, he looks nothing like you!)
The result of the Rockfish Studios sessions was an unexpectedly lighthearted, but brilliantly catchy, CD (we think!), embellished by the excellent drumming skills of James Walker (ex Normal). Thanks to all who made this CD so unusual and worthwhile!
