El-cojones[Covers & Original, 5 piece]
Get the Flash Player to see these images. Unbelievably coming up for their 6th anniversary (Apr 2008), this band have toured extensively in the south-west, from Cambourne to Chard and all the hell-holes in-between, playing kick-ass rock and soulful blues. Inter-active to the extreme, you'll find the singer behind the bar, the guitarist ON the bar and the bass player in the bogs. Sure to get the place dancing, likely to chat up any women and certain to upset somebody, this is not a band for the faint-hearted. You can rely on great music, a great atmosphere, great fun and a foul smell.
The band features Dick Cheese, (Sax), Johny Stinkfinger(drums), Hugh Garse (Bass), Slippery Dick Scratcher (Vocals, Insults and Farting) and J.Y.Kelly (Guitars and wind section) and cover numbers by the Stones, Joe Cocker, Jimi Hendrix, Van the Man, Thin Lizzy, the Commitments, Free, ZZ Top and The Monkees (all played in their own inimitable style,) as well as some of their own and a few surprises too (all sing along stuff). They play an eclectic mix of numbers at most gigs but also turn up as a pure blues band if required (see Reviews). The bands influences are Jack Daniels, Beer, Curry, Brussels sprouts and Dirty Women.
A great fun band who excel in Pubs, at Private Parties, Weddings, Wakes, Funerals, Festivals, Bike Rallies and any Piss-Up that wants them.
Book them up for your function, you won't be disappointed. For booking details ring mike 07831 849233 or check out www.wheresallthedirtywomen.com or myspace.com/jykellyandslipperydick

el-cojones carlton theatre Carlton Theatre, Teignmouth on Wed 16th Apr 08
Review NOT edited by Lemonrock - original text missed the last cojones gig at this venue. this was a stormer of a session. have seen them at a few venues but this complete blues show had me in raptures(easily pleased). the healing game and my favourite the thrill is gone were sensational. the guys approached this gig with an air of seriousness not usually found at their pub gigs. thats not to say they weren't having fun. last gig for their drummer but have a new guy who has stepped up to the challenge. if you haven't caught these guys out yet check their web site for gig list and come along. keep up the good work guys

In the face of adversity The Globe Inn, Exeter on Sat 12th Apr 08
The Globe Inn's pageReview NOT edited by Lemonrock - original text Saturday night in the globe was classic el-cojones

The band were playing with a new and un-practiced drummer and a stand in Bass player these guys rocked a packed Globe.

The new Drum PY was a treat to watch and boy could he play those skins.

He came into his own with a style that had the old hands in the band looking a bit shocked.

This band as always had the place jumping with a mixture of great songs and there usual brand of blue humour.

loved Spooky and The Thrill Has Gone

The have been together for 6 years now and yet the still find ways of doing great things with classic songs and making us laugh .

Thanks lads loved it!.

the blues at its best Carlton Theatre, Teignmouth on Wed 14th Nov 07
Review edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. This was a real mid week treat for me.

I have been to all of the blues evenings at the Carlton and this was by far the best.

A great mix of songs from The Coasters 'cell block number 9' to Jim Hendrix's 'red house'.

The quality of the guitar and sax solos were superb.

The show was great - they interacted with the audience and made us feel all involved.

The singers vocal work on Van Morrison's 'healing game' made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck!
A music fan, Mon 19th Nov 07
El-cojones Ferry Boat Inn, Teignmouth on Mon 27th Aug 07
Review edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. My first time at the Ferry Boat Inn and I already want to move over that way from Torbay!

The first band there was El-cojones and I was well impressed - if you like a good rock band these guys kick ass; go and watch them and you won't be disappointed.

Print 3 flyers per A4 page, with marked cutting guides. Hint: setting your start date to the first of a month, and your end date to the last day of a month, gives a neat heading on your flyer, e.g. setting 1 May 2008 and 31 Aug 2008 as the start and end dates will produce the heading: 'MAY - AUGUST 08'. Try it! You can also set the font size to a decimal value (e.g. 9.3) to make the gigs fit exactly onto the page.
