 undeniably entertaining Duke of York, Windsor on Sat 28th Jun 08 | |
 Having never been fans of totally live music, on entering a local watering hole, imagine our surprise to stumble across Elvis! Amongst other famous people portrayed by this undiscovered talent now known as Gary Roman.
The range of music sung by this undeniably entertaining character who invited audience participation throughout the evening, without taking a break was at least to say one of the best evenings out locally in a long time.
After singing and dancing our way through the evening and enjoying the hospitality of the landlord and lady, this public house we will visit again.
We would encourage anyone if the posters appear to venture in and be entertained. | |

| The Kings Head is usually a sleepy little pub with good atmosphere and a lively clientele. Average age seems to be a healthy mix from 18 to about 55 with everybody mixing well. Gary's gig was a little hampered by the heat on the night and most people went outside because of this. This did not deter Gary though from belting out number after number with sounds we all thought we'd forgotten and it was great I especially liked his Elvis routine as he can hit some fairly low notes like "girl of my best" friend yet he stunned everybody later on with the super high pitched version of "Lonely Girl". As with all pub gigs the audience warmed better to him later on in the night when everybody wanted their own requests to be sung and nearing the end, Gary even let some people join in as well. The place stayed packed all night with many people dancing outside and in. He made a lot of people very happy, a great entertainer considering he's still in his first year. He has not been gigging that long but it does not show, he has a full professional PA set-up and an ingenious music selection system for the backing tracks that he designed himself which simply attaches to his microphone stand. Disco style lighting really enhances the overall performance giving that party atmosphere so often lacking in full bands let alone a solo artist. This means he can perform for a very long time having instant access to 300 songs or so right at his fingertips. Most live bands will give up to two hours on average but Gary can surpass this for much less money and few bands even bother with lighting effects these days. A great night was had by all, can't wait till the next time. | |
