geekchic
- are four experienced musicians who have previously played in bands around the country for many years. Now all based together in Exeter (and enjoying the maturity of their thirties) they have united in a mission to both provide and have fun whilst playing quality covers. The band has no music policy, playing anything from the 60's to the present day, as long as it's Energetic and sounds good with guitars. Current groups covered range from 60's The Kinks and The Who, to punk classics like The Buzzcocks and The Clash, on through the Britpop years of Pulp and Blur up to modern day groups like GreenDay, The Kaiser Chiefs and The Automatic. Add a small dash of 80s, including Soft Cell, and surely there should be something for everyone!
The line up comprises Chris Clark on vocals and occasional guitar (Chris is already well known around Exeter for his solo acoustic performances), Andy on lead
guitar, Adam on bass guitar and Rich (Sticky) on drums. Between them they have more years experience of gigging than they would care to admit to. The band have been playing venues around Exeter including The Jolly Porter, Zephyrs and 3 Fat Fish (now The Hub) over the last year and are keen to expand their gig base.
Booking geekchic promises a night of quality tunes delivered with energy and drive.

I spilt beer on a stranger! The Jolly Porter, Exeter on Sat 25th Nov 06
The boys of GeekChic put on a slick, energetic, punky and totally rocking show. I was so impressed as I looked around at the packed out room, that over the course of their funky punky pop riot not a foot was left un-tapped, an air guitar unstrummed and the shouted sing- alongs from everyone in there, whether 20 or 60, are testament to the quality of the songs they covered. The Geeks chicly took us through an evening of tunes from the sixties right through 'til now, carefully selected, brilliantly executed, these boys had us jumping around somewhat in spite of ourselves. The combination of infectious guitar lines, top quality drumming, funky bass riffs and an unstoppable jack-in-the-box front man with some serious vocal talent, had me swilling back my Doom Bar and getting my groove on as if I'd come there fresh from a good night's sleep and exhilarating walk in the countryside! Full of energy, talent, chic, geeks and songs that you wish you heard more often; a night out with GeekChic is not to be missed.

Rocked The House The Highweek social club, Newton Abbot on Sat 21st Oct 06
These guys just thrilled! Their repertoire was truly amazing!
From the opening sequences I realised that this was going to be all about enjoyment; an adrenaline and testosterone ride of sheer exuberance.
They certainly seemed to be pretty tight to me, but the personality of the boys and the sound they produced was exceptional!
The music shifted from contemporary right back in time to the 'Good Old Days' of the Sixties.
I know the audience loved them; that was apparent by the cheers, the clapping and the clamour for 'more, more' at the end of their set. The audience was a total mix of old and young, yet each song was so well received that one could be forgiven for believing that the band had hired 'groupies'.
I loved it and I can't thank them enough for bringing great music and such fun to a wonderful evening. These guys were playing in an 'Out of the way' Social Club, to an audience of approximately 100 people. They played as if they had thousands of screaming fans listening.
One important point - GeekChic were appearing on stage at Highweek Social Club, at a fund-raising charity event for a desperately ill little girl who might well be losing the fight. The chap who organised this event had no vested interest; nor did the band, but WOW guys... you did her proud!

Reply from GeekChic: Thanks Rusty, we really enjoyed ourselves and it was nice to be doing something worthwhile (for a change). Congratulations to you all for raising so much money on the night.

| [Tue 29th Jan 08] Hi, We wondered if you are available on the 7th June for a wedding party? We heard your music on lemonrock and it sounded great. Look forward to hearing from you. - Julian Holt | Reply from GeekChic: Hi Julian I'm afraid our singer has a gig already booked for that date with his other band. Thank you for thinking of us though. | |
