Helen Ingham, singer, songwriter, guitar & mandolin player has been digging around American Roots influenced music for a good few years now. She has followed a winding musical path starting with a school Skiffle band, making detours, both as a solo and band performer, through various genres such as 50's/60's rock'n'roll & garage punk, rockabilly and country and has been fortunate to play in the USA, Scandinavia, Europe and Japan, as well as many gigs in the UK. She has also appeared on 'Pebble Mill at One', had airplay on Radio1 on several occasions and has written theme tunes for the Ace Cafe London website.
Helen has never been averse to covering other artists' material and adding a new twist (such as the Sweet's glam-rock confection, Wigwam Bam, given an Elmore James treatment). However, she has always written her own material and it is her intention that her songs are received on many levels - underlying subtle and humorous messages belie an initial simplicity and catchiness, but it's entirely up to the audience and the occasion which level is the most appropriate!
Helen has the ability to include the audience in her performances, seeing audience and performer as the same entity, which is why the intimacy of solo acoustic gigs work well for her and make for a great time! Above all she feels it's her responsibility to make sure people leave feeling shed-loads better than when they came in!
