A monthly jazz jam hosted by Chris Flegg. All players welcome - phone Chris on 07775 504059 to sit in. The Jam has been going for nearly two years on a monthly basis and plays mainstream jazz standards with the lineup changing as the night goes on. There are usually some solo guitar or piano numbers to give contrast. It all depends on which musicians turn up!
The Jam recently relocated to the Portland after several successful years in the town centre. | |

  A large comfortable bar with a good choice of superb beers, whiskeys and wine by the bottle. And quick service too. The food looked attractive but arriving late I didn't have time to sample. The jazz was also superb. Large group playing standards, latin and be-bop. Highly enjoyable evening. Worth tracking down as it's in the quiet back streets of the city. And jazz is making a come-back. Recommended. | |
