Joker[Covers, 4 piece]
JokerPopular 4-piece contemporary covers band. Performing covers by Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Stereophonics, Snow Patrol, Stone Roses, Muse, Starsailor as well as a few retakes on some 80's classics. This band almost always fill venues to capacity, venues regularly run out of beer and glasses when these boys are in town! Highlights include Gaz (the lead singer) leaping off amp stacks, breakdancing and singing whilst stood on his head. I don't care what the neighbours say, these boys are the real deal. They're loud, proud and out of this world. Awesome.

jest what you always wanted Railway, Liskeard on Fri 17th Mar 06
Review edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. Following new ownership two years ago, The Railway has gone from strength to strength and reclaimed its crown as Liskeard's busiest weekend pub, and successfully shed its former incarnations (Porter's Alehouse and The Great Pot).

In 2006, the inclusion of a live music programme on Friday nights has been a very much welcome addition by a malnourished town underfed on entertainment.

The layout of the pub itself is somewhat awkward - bands play 'upstairs', whilst the casual punter will stay 'downstairs' by the bar. Of course, those interested in the bands go 'upstairs'.

In March, Plymouth band Joker were, quite simply, the best covers band I have seen for many years. What separates Joker from other covers bands is not just the setlist, chemistry, nice shirts and quality of sound, but the fact that the harmony vocals and twin guitars settle above the drums for a change.

At the Railway, Joker played a contemporary set of Franz, the Monkeys, the Stripes, the Chiefs and a touching inclusion of Crowded House. And loads of other stuff.

If Joker return to the Railway later this year, don't cross the road with the chicken. You'll never get to the other side.

excellent local band The Thistle, Plymouth on Sat 7th Jan 06
Review edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. Joker are excellent local band. I think they are without question one of the best local bands in the south west . They are in the middle of changing their set and are trying out different songs as well as introducing their own. The gig at the Millbridge was great although the venues that they play at are becoming too small as their fan base seems to have grown rapidly over the last six months. I have personally watched them for the last 18 months and seen the guys improve steadily. Would like to hear more of their own stuff and would even buy some if available on cd as would several of my friends. So come on guys publish and be damned!

Fantastic The Thistle, Plymouth on Fri 7th Oct 05
Review edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. I've seen Joker about 4 times now and they rock... It was the first time I saw them at the Thistle and it was awesome, great atmosphere, good sound and lots of sweaty happy people... I took my sister and brother in law to see them at The Brook and they had a great time and thought the band were fab and will defo be going there again. Anyone wanting a good night with good music should go along and see this band.

The Junction's pageReview edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. If you can stand and watch these guys for 2 hours without getting emotional then your remedy is simple, you need a soul implant...These boyz rock!

Print 3 flyers per A4 page, with marked cutting guides. Hint: setting your start date to the first of a month, and your end date to the last day of a month, gives a neat heading on your flyer, e.g. setting 1 May 2008 and 31 Aug 2008 as the start and end dates will produce the heading: 'MAY - AUGUST 08'. Try it! You can also set the font size to a decimal value (e.g. 9.3) to make the gigs fit exactly onto the page.

[Mon 21st Nov 05] Last weekend (Fri 11/11/05 & S... Last weekend (Fri 11/11/05 & Sat 12/11/05) the Jokerboys returned from a 3 week break with 2 new songs up their sleeve. The gigs were at The Junction on the Friday and The Thistle Park Tavern on the Saturday...On Friday we gigged the 2 new songs, 'Bullets' by the Editors and 'I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor' by The Arctic Monkeys. As usual we hadn't had time to get together to practice the songs and were relying on each other having the same version of each song, not to mention a good memory!!! Friday passed without a hitch, the usual scenario in the Junction, it was rammed soild and the crowd were in top form. Bullets went down well and we saved 'I Bet That You....' until the end of the 2nd set....it was a real stormer. Every body seemed to be moving to the The Arctic's track.........Buoyed with confidence we got down to the Thistle on Saturday on a high.......surely nothing could go wrong! We play the Thistle every month, it's always rammed and the crowd are always 'up for ir'. It was unfortunate then that a group of lads, out for a birthday p***-up had decided to grace us with their presence.......To be fair, apart from the usual jumping up and down, singing along to the songs and waving shirts above their heads the lads were fine.....all apart from one.......there's always one isn't there?? One guy seemed determined to provoke a fight from any-one of his mates, was it high spirits? Was it too many 'smarties? it's hard to tell, either way, after too much falling over/spinning around with arms flailing and being told to calm down by Will (manager cum doorman) 3 times there was still no change....so the inevitable happened....Will leaned across to me and said 'Stop the gig!'........something that we have never had to do before......after a little bit of pleading (on our part) we relented and pulled the plug.......bugger! The idiots had got their way and ruined it for everyone else........After an hour of sitting around chatting to the punters and begging Will to let us finish our set he finally said 'You can do 3 more songs than that's it, i'm not having any more trouble tonight'....so we restarted with the Kaiser Chiefs 'I Predict A Riot' and the place erupted! The place was still 80% full and people were singing along to the chorus at the tops of their voices....this is what it's all about!!!! Next we lobbed in 'I Bet That You Look Good........' to more adulation from the crowd then finished with 'Champagne Supernova' to keep them all sweet at the end. Chris (lead guitar) had is brother and girlfriend in the crowd, they had come over from Northern Ireland and she is the cousin of Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol. Talk about feeling the pressure when we did 'Run'!!! Still, they loved it,....which is nice.
