not to be missed Offley Recreation Centre, Hitchin on Sat 17th May 08
I went along to the Just for Kicks gig last night at Offley and wow was I impressed, I'd been hearing a lot of good reports about this band and thought I had better check them out for myself and was I glad I did.
The lads were playing at a football presentation night with a lot of young lads and their partners attending. I wondered how the band that play just Rock 'n' Roll would go down with such a young audience, well I soon found out, with their great choice of songs, slick playing , great vocals and a bit of banter between songs the lads had the crowd On Side! From the start.
The dance floor was occupied all night. Great to see young people dancing and generally having a great time to good old Rock 'n' Roll.
For all you Rock 'n' Roll fans out there if you get a chance to see Just for Kicks I promise you, you won't be disappointed.
Great band, Great music, say no more.

Good old rock n roll Offley Recreation Centre, Hitchin on Sat 22nd Mar 08
First class band who rocked the night away with songs from the fifties and sixties like aint that a shame, shotgun boogie, please dont touch, they even played crazy cavan songs and matchbox songs like my little sisters got a moterbike that i havnt heard for years to rockerbilly rebel, the lead singer and rythm guitarist still plays with matchbox and leads the band hes got a great rock n roll voice. It was only when he sang Marie Marie I realised who he was.
They are a tight five piece band and have a good set. The sax player was the bizz and played good old rock n roll style. They have bass, drums and a great lead guitarist who rang out some great solos.

Just For Kicks rock! Offley Recreation Centre, Hitchin on Sat 22nd Mar 08
I was there right at the front when Just For Kicks played their very first gig and I've seen them several times since then. They just get better and better every time I hear them.
If you want to dance the night away to classic (and not so well known) rockabilly and rock 'n' roll numbers then you must go and see these guys strut their stuff! 'Stray Cat Strut' (watch out for PJ on the upright bass), 'Promised Land', 'Bony Moronie', 'Blue Moon of Kentucky'... they're all there.
If you run a venue, book these guys. Your punters will have a great night and so will your till! :-)
Nice one guys; see you at the next one.

Classic! Offley Recreation Centre, Hitchin on Sat 22nd Mar 08
A great rock and roll band.
This is the third time I've seen this band and they get better every time.
Although the rock and roll sound is authentic, the band puts their own mark on every song. As well as the better known standards, JFK also sprinkle in a few less common songs that may not be familiar to anyone except dedicated RnR fans. So, we had standards like 'Rock Around the Clock' and 'La Bamba' mixed in with the slightly less mainstream such as 'Stagger Lee' and fairly rare songs like Mike Sarne's 'Just for Kicks' (whence the band seem to have nicked their name) and 'Jack the Ripper' which was recorded by Screaming Lord Sutch.
The measure of a good RnR band is how many people get up and dance. In this case, that was a good fraction of the audience, and the dance floor was rarely empty!
Great stuff. Look out for them.
