Kidney Riddler[Quirky Alt Pop, 5 piece]
Kidney Riddler are an odd bunch, comprising of an Artist (Lise), Biologist (Mike), Engineer (Sam), Theoretical Physicist (Dan), Computer Whizz (Hayden) and an actual (real) musician (Adam), but when they come together, they make music that covers everything from jazz&blues inspired melodies to obscure jump around pop.
What do they sound like? They've been told that it's like a cross between Moloko, Tori Amos, Jools Holland and a happy version of Portishead, although this was mostly said by drunk people.

I thought all the bands that night were brilliant. I liked Kidney Riddler - they had a certain something I couldn't put my finger on. All in all it was a great night.

Awesome gig! The Spice of Life, Soho on Sat 28th Oct 06
Didn't mean to leave this so late! I completely agree with the other reviewer - it was a great night, and all of the bands on put on a great show. Not only that, but it was nice to hear such a variety of music rather than the same old thing again and again (which is so common!).
Anyway, special mention goes out to Kidney Riddler. They were completely different to everything I had been expecting from a gig like this, and they really stood out. I agree with the previous reviewer as well - something a bit special that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Nice one.

[Tue 7th Nov 06] Hello everyone,
A huge thanks... Hello everyone,
A huge thanks to all of you who made our Halloween Gig at the Spice of Life. It made Saturday night a complete stormer of an evening (and morning). We hope that all of you who came along to the Aftershow Party enjoyed it as much as we did - we may have very empty pockets but our minds are full of fresh new song ideas, and we're looking forward to the upcoming gigs.
And onto that! We've reconfirmed the headline slot @ The Troubadour on Thursday the 16th of November. It's great to be asked back to such a unique venue. For this we're going **Acoustic** for the first time in about a year - so there's some contrast from last Saturday for you. In fact, we're powering up the gear even now to make sure that it's a different experience altogether. The intimate atmosphere should really suit what we have planned, and the whole night looks like a good one; we share the stage with former Beta Band member, Richard Greentree with The General & Duchess Collins and New-York Stater Will Hawkins.
Again, like 'The Spice of Life', the venue is fairly small and it fills up fast. We're on stage at 10:00pm, and on previous occasions where we've headlined, they've turned people away because the darn place is full :). (Disappointing for us, and you!). So come along early, enjoy some great food and drink, and a night of fine music!
So... thanks to you all for your lovely support and so much fun. The bouncing crowds in Soho have left us on a high :).
Take care, and hope to cya soon.
Lise, Mike & all at KR. | [Fri 27th Oct 06] Well, the charity gig last Thu... Well, the charity gig last Thursday for the International Childcare Trust was also a great success. The bands on were great, the DJ's played some great tunes, we made a bunch of new friends, and money was raised for a very good cause. For full details on the trust, check out our Live Page, but bear in mind you can still give donations for the CycleCambodia fund-raiser directly to both Jack Kerr and Jennifer Farren (justgiving.com). It really is a worthwhile cause, and those guys are putting their all into it (so they deserve your support - give them some money goddamnit). And thank you again to all those who were dancing like maniacs and texting people about us. We love you! Even if we don't know who you are :(...
So, now we're on to our extravaganza down at The Spice of Life, Soho, and our Halloween Special + AFTERSHOW PARTY. It's a classic venue in the heart of London, it will be a fantastic evening. It's also one of the best excuses for a party we've had in a long time. Full band, all the toys, new songs, freebies, everyone in fancy dress of some kind (!), and an aftershow party in Soho for all who come to see us. This will be special! If you can make it, don't miss it. We're on stage at around 9:30pm, but it's been recommended that people get there early, as the venue tends to pack out quickly. The bands on are Freerun, Kidney Riddler, Shabby Rogue and Jason Kent, and AFTERSHOW PARTY afterwards @ Freedom, Wardour Street. Full details and flyers are available on our webpage. | [Wed 20th Sep 06] Well, the charity gig last Thu... | | Five Women and a Martini
Our debut release, and the core material for our live show, this is where it all started about a year and a half ago. Written and recorded with complete and utter disregard for how to play the material live on stage, our music has been compared to Moloko, Tori Amos, Jools Holland and a 'Happy' Portishead although, if truth be told, mostly by drunk people.
Still, it fills a nice CD-shaped space in many CD collections in a fair few corners of the world (and is apparently a bit of a 'hit' in Columbia, which is nice. Never been there though...). It also benefits from a unique 'we're not too worried about postage costs, so they're all the same' offer - it can arrive on your doorstep within a couple days happily wrapped in its shrink-wrapped goodness for the tiny, tiny price of £8.
You can grab it from our website (www.kidneyriddler.co.uk/music) or directly through us... But come to a gig anyway ;).
