 Nice to hear a tight band again! Wired on Sat 31st May 08 | |
   As a singer myself (CoolBeans) I very rarely get a chance to go out and see bands performing. This weekend was my first one off in ages and I noticed that Wired were playing at the Kings Head in Prestwood, a fairly new venue which is establishing itself on the circuit.
I had heard good reports about Wired from my mates and had listened to their demos and they sounded good so I thought I'd head out and hear them play. I was certainly not disappointed. They are true to their demos, unlike some bands I've heard, and are very tight. Obviously they play together a lot.
I understand they have just recruited a new lead guitarist and he fitted in very well, in fact stole the show with his precise and interesting playing and on-stage movement/performance. The Kings Head doesn't have much space so it is difficult to move around much, but I reckon the others should take a lead from that guy - he brought a lot of energy to the performance.
In terms of songs they were all absolute sing-along and tap-along classics. Belted out with precision. They got the crowd dancing and singing along by the end of the night; no mean feat as everyone looked absolutely knackered this weekend for some reason!
My favourite song of the night was Parklife (Blur) which they pulled off a treat. Other memorable songs included Eton Rifles and I Can't Get No Satisfaction... Really well done classics.
If you're up for a good night out then keep an eye out for these guys. Certainly a "cut above" and worth venturing out for. | |

 Outstanding Elvis - Billy Dene on Fri 28th Mar 08 | |
 Billy Dene's tribute to the King was outstanding. Billy is a true entertainer. The dance floor was full from the first song until Elvis had left the building! Billy's second half performance featured the famous jump suit which had the same effect on my punters as the original did back in the day.
