 Lovely pub, in the very centre of Wells, famous for its soaring cathedral, largest parish church and old medieval streets. Wells that is. The Kings Head can be traced back to 1308, when application was made for '5 shoppes with a house behynde' The ceiling boasts a rare and beautiful double arch double cruck roof, dendrochronographed to 1318/9. Since then it has been extended and rearranged, with a new chimney in the C15th, Tudor front extension, early Georgian facade, and then a bit of late Georgian cottaging going on at the rear - (not of the Greek style) During the day we serve homely and imaginative bar meals to shoppers and locals alike, with recipes inspired by the cook books of King Richard II, culminating in an imaginative Roast Lunch on Sunday. In the evening we have a 4K soundsystem, advised, designed and supplied by people that do the same work at Pilton (Glastonbury) festival.

Hint: setting your start date to the first of a month, and your end date to the last day of a month, gives a neat heading on your flyer, e.g. setting 1 May 2008 and 31 Aug 2008 as the start and end dates will produce the heading: 'MAY - AUGUST 08'. Try it! You can also set the font size to a decimal value (e.g. 9.3) to make the gigs fit exactly onto the page. | |
