Mark Butcher is Surrey captain and the side's most experienced Test Cricketer with 79 England caps (the last being against South Africa in December 2004). A wrist injury cost Butcher his England place, but with time to focus on Surrey he has helped forge a strong middle order. Butcher averaged 40 last season and led Surrey out of relegation trouble in the County Championship. Mark will captain Surrey again in the 2008 season.
(He is also a mean guitar player and lists Jimi Hendrix as his all time favourite.....)
