Versatile! The Oddfellows Arms, Hemel Hempstead on Fri 5th Jan 07
I didn't know the pub and I didn't know the band. By 23.30 when they finished their set, I wanted to hear more! Fantastic versatility from three band members performing Bohemian Rhapsody brilliantly. In fact from their first song by U2, "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" to their last the full version of "Bat Out Of Hell", I loved it! I would definitely go and hear them again! Thank you.

What stands out for me with this trio was an amazing performance of the song Bohemian Rhapsody. Amazing rendition! Never forgotten it and we're now September!!! Versatile musicians making the songs sound full and fabulous. Go and see them.

Different, excellent and fun The Robin Hood, St Albans on Sun 3rd Dec 06
From a distance you'd be forgiven for thinking that yesterday afternoon's live rock band was just another covers band, likely to be trotting out copious Stones and Kinks numbers... but getting close up to the band - not difficult due to the reasonable volume levels - revealed a few surprises: 1) there were only 3 of them (bass guitar, drummer and keyboard/guitarist), 2) they all had obvious musical talent and pedigree and 3) they played with enthusiasm and control, yet in a fun and spirited way.
If you had stayed more than a few minutes you'd also have realised that Maxwell, Hammer & Smith take on challenging songs that you just don't hear most other bands do. Their renditions of John Miles' classic "Music (was my first love)" gave each member a chance to show their skill, not just individually, but as a team whose sum was greater than the parts. They never blotted each other out and never overplayed; you could imagine them taking hours during rehearsals to work out some of the arrangements.
When a band announces that they are about to play, for your delight, "Bohemian Rhapsody", it's not uncommon for a few pairs of eyes to roll skywards. But MHS pulled off this classic - as a 3-piece - and with great tonal accuracy on guitar, keyboards/piano, and only minor changes to the song structure, came out heroic. Remember that Queen's famous harmonies were the product of sometimes dozens of multi-tracked vocal tracks of all four members - and here we were experiencing all the passion and energy, live, by 3 people.
We were also treated to both Focus hits Sylvia and Hocus Pocus, complete with not-half-bad yodelling, and a monstrously good finale of Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell incorporating Todd Rundgren's original '40 motor bikes' sound!
All three musicians sing, and their vocal harmonies are pin-point sharp, professionally studied and rehearsed, and delivered with confidence and emotion true to the original songs.
The band are a tribute to keeping great rock music truly alive. If you love tight, melodic, emotive rock, played with flair... go and see them!

Awesome The Horns, Watford on Sat 7th Oct 06
This band are absolutely awesome - it was the third or possibly fourth time that I saw them last night and I have worked every single time - their covers are absolutely immense and they're the only band I have known to successfully cover Hocus Pocus by Focus and Bohemian Rhapsody... and on top of that they're a bunch of cool dudes.
