Peter Bruntnell is one of Britain's top songwriters - his most recent album "Ghost in a Spitfire" was regularly rated one of the best Americana albums of 2005, while his 1999 album, "Normal For Bridgwater" is an accepted classic of the genre. Whether, solo, as a duo, or in a group format, Peter Bruntnell's live acts have an intensity that belie the relative quietness of his delivery. | |

 bad weather, great music The Blue Walnut Cafe, Torquay on Fri 19th May 06 | |
  Torquay was doing its best to show off its bad side, in terms of the weather, as it felt like the monsoon season when going to the venue. However when I got there the venue was intimate and friendly. I soon settled in with the famous banana beer which Peter Bruntnell also through the night took a great liking to. It certainly lubricated his music as he delivered an excellent set suited to the intimate set up as it is at the Blue Walnut. He covered most of the albums he has done and finished with a couple of popular cover versions with an old pal called 'smudger' on the fiddle. The support act was also well worth coming to see and shows much promise. Also the sound quality was just right for a small space where it could be overpowering. | |
