| Print Flyers | |
|
|
|
| Print 3 flyers per A4 page, with marked cutting guides. Hint: setting your start date to the first of a month, and your end date to the last day of a month, gives a neat heading on your flyer, e.g. setting 1 May 2008 and 31 Aug 2008 as the start and end dates will produce the heading: 'MAY - AUGUST 08'. Try it! You can also set the font size to a decimal value (e.g. 9.3) to make the gigs fit exactly onto the page. | |
| Flyers limited to 14 days. Get longer flyers by joining Lemonrock - FREE Music Lover membership! | |

A Whole New Sound! rtband on Tue 19th Feb 08
This is the second time I've had the pleasure of seeing the now-renamed RTB at this friendliest of venues and... what a difference!
Sadly, the Band was without their regular keyboard player on this occasion due to illness but with an enhanced line-up, now including a talented young drummer, the sound was bigger, fuller, better.
The first set kicked off with a rousing version of "Bright Lights, Big City" and this was the tone of the Band's output for the evening.
There were three Little Richard numbers, each one very different, which illustrated the legendary rocker's talent for writing enduring songs - their basey, dirty version of "Slippin' & Slidin'" was particularly memorable.
The audience were treated to an evening of surprise and delight: extended guitar solos from Jimmy added immeasurably to the enjoyment of "Spoonful" (the longest version of this I've ever heard!), "Smokestack Lightnin'" and "Diamond Ring"; Keith featured as lead guitar on "Green River Blues" and "Stormy Monday", bringing a truly warm, mellow quality to the music; the percussion and rhythm sections laid down the base line and powered the performance; Rob's voice had a rockier, sharper, edgier timbre.
This is a group of talented musicians - three of them very young - who give generously of themselves while adhering to a unique interpretation of the music we all love.
I will always look forward to their next performance.

superb combination Propellers on Tue 11th Dec 07
In a venue where covers of familiar songs are the norm, this band blew the audience away with their original material. From the excellent harmonies on "Money", to the driving bass and percussion support on "Don't Mention Me" and "God Bless Them All", to the pulsating rhythm of "Dance With me Tonight", to the positively anthemic "And Your Mama Say"... but there's a danger I might repeat myself - this group of musicians is unique. At a time when good new rock music is in very short supply, these guys deliver the goods! There were just 4 covers - all brilliantly executed - in a playlist of some 18 songs and the crowd's reaction throughout was both enthusiastic and appreciative.
The line-up of musicians is uniquely suited to the material - strong lead singer, energetic drummer, innovative keyboard player, a talented bass player and 2 guitarists - one of whom also plays the Dobro while the other also provides support vocals. This superb combination offered the very best in great music - see them and judge for yourself. I'm looking forward to the next gig!

A real good time Urban Blues on Tue 9th Oct 07
This was the first outing by a new band? You'd never have known!
Right from the start the performance was polished and assured and to a really high standard.
The band did two sets totalling about 16 or 17 songs from a broad spectrum of that vast genre we call 'The Blues'... everything from Howlin' Wolf to The Marshall Tucker Band and from Tom Waits to Janis Joplin.
The crowd were blown away by Sheila's voice... such power and clarity and bags of feeling. Jonathan's vocals, in contrast, were more restrained and quirky... especially on 'Heartattack and Vine' (10/10 for that one). The frontline was completed by Sheila again, on flute, and some gutsy, earthy lead guitar and slide guitar from Jonathan and a more lyrically expressive lead guitar from Paul. The rhythm section of Colin (bass) and Paul (drums) was tight and rock-like all evening... the foundation on which the performance was built.
All in all, to quote Jonny (or was it Edgar?) Winter, "We all had a real good time". The band obviously enjoyed themselves, the crowd were enthusiastic both in terms of their applause and willingness to sing along with the band on 'the stompers' and even the PumpHouse volunteers were smiling their heads off!
Well done Urban Blues... a brilliant night and a fantastic debut!

What a great night! Urban Blues on Tue 9th Oct 07
What a debut: you would have thought that they had been playing together for years. Great guitar action combined with ace drumming and the powerful voice of Sheila made the band as good as any I have seen recently. The intimate nature of the venue ensured that you could really get close to the band and feel the enthusiasm they have for the blues.
