The pub has been closed since the 19th December 2006 and I have no idea what is happening or whether it will ever host live music again.
I do not know what email address is now being used, if any. The phone number may be no longer active.

Bullfrogs tame Red Lion The Bullfrog Band on Fri 18th Aug 06
The Bullfrogs ripped their way through an extended set of classic Rhythm & Blues numbers in a two set performance, the interaction between Dave & Derek was superb whilst the rhythm section of Michelle & Rik continues to lay the foundations for a hot blues rockin' performance.
Starting with some classic blues numbers, kicking off with "Rock me baby" before breaking into "My baby she left me", "Off the Handle" & rolls into a faster "Don't Start me talkin" followed by a slow driving blues of "I ain't no saint", whilst the bass riff keeps "Morning Dew" fresh.
Whilst the full-on rhythm and blues of "Tattooed Lady" allows the band to enjoy themselves as much as the audience clearly is.
The audience is invited to sing along with "Sweet little rock n roller" followed by "La bamba" plus "What ya gonna do" before the Harp & Guitar kick in for "Messing with the kid" and through to the closure of an extended Bullfrog Blues with Rock n Roll medley squeezed in for good measure, ensured that the Bullfrogs go from strength to strength.
Keep an eye out for the Bullfrogs - they are great entertainers.

Good fun night The Top Cats on Fri 17th Mar 06
I have to say this was one of the most enjoyable nights I think we've had at The Red Lion. The band play two sets of rock 'n' roll/rockabilly but really mix the material. There are a lot of rock 'n' roll classics, 'Oh Boy', 'Thats Alright Mamma', 'Move It' all played really well but what really got people's attention was their treatment of other material such as 'Paint It Black', 'Mustang Sally', and Led Zeppelin's 'Rock And Roll', all done in a rockabilly style and all really good. The band were having a great time and the crowd just joined in and many people said what a great fun night it was. When they return, as I'm sure they will, be sure to catch them if you fancy some great music and a really fun night.

Good Blues Joshua Blue on Tue 14th Mar 06
This was a welcome return for Joshua Blue and they played two good sets of blues. With Eddie Angel and Joshua trading guitar parts, their contrasting styles worked well with some good playing from them both. Michael and Mark kept it all very tight on bass and drums with Mark playing really well and several people commented on his playing afterwards. With material including 'Don't You Lie To Me', 'Hey Joe', 'Going Down Slow' and they were joined by Vic, one of the Red Lion regulars on harmonica for 'Tore Down'. This was a really good night with some excellent playing, as we've come to expect from Joshua and his band.

Plenty of energy NBS on Sat 11th Mar 06
Making another appearance here, NBS played two energetic sets which went down well. Amongst the material were some of the regular stuff we hear, 'Vertigo', ' I Believe In A Thing Called Love' and some stuff we don't hear so often, 'Hush', 'Don't Stop Me Now' along with some songs done a bit different from the original, Take That's 'Back For Good' which had the slow verse as the original then was speeded up for the chorus and worked well, as well as Tom Jones' 'It's Not Unusual' which was also good. I also have to say that their version of 'American Idiot' was probably the best I've seen here, lots of energy. the whole band put some real effort into the gig and really seemed to be enjoying themselves. When they come back be sure to see them, they are good fun and are well worth catching.
