A gig made in heaven! AbaKus on Sat 17th May 08
AbaKus's pageReview NOT edited by Lemonrock - original text  I love this band and this pub really has an atmosphere which complements them perfectly. They are absolutely amazing and never fail to deliver in any way. The 60 mile round trip from Harrow was definitely worth it so that must say something mustn't it?!

Their set list always includes loads of surprises, including old numbers which are great to hear again - their jazz-inspired version of You Really Got Me is just one and Caroline (which I wish they'd do more often!) plus a beautiful number called Hallelujiah which is breathtaking and of course, their rockin', driving versions of Gimme All Your Lovin' and Take Me To The Top (an original no less!) which pounds along relentlessly, not to mention She Sells Sanctuary which has to be heard (and seen!) and great versions of T-Rex and Free, numbers. One of my personal favourites is Vertigo which is out of this world and New Years Day which is very atmospheric with an amazing sound quality.

They've recently added the Wild Cherry number, Play That Funky Music which although one of their newer numbers, has proved to be a favourite already!

So you see - a rock band, who play not only thundering, grooving rock but soul, some haunting balads and now even funk, you cannot go wrong coming to their gigs. So what are you waiting for - come to a venue near (or not no near!) you soon.

Great gig AbaKus on Sat 25th Aug 07
AbaKus's pageReview edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page.  Abakus were truly wonderful and left you feeling breathless and floating in heaven!

They always give 200% - don't bother going to festivals with dodgy burgers and even dodgier toilets - come and see Abakus and you won't be disappointed - the only disappointment will be all their fabulous gigs that you may have missed!

They are so much more than a 'covers band'. Everything they do they add their own touch - You Really Got Me, She Sells Sanctuary, I'm A Believer to name just a few and their version of I Predict A Riot is, in my humble opinion, superior to the original, which is great but just come and hear it and you'll know what I mean. As for Comfortably Numb... well, that really is out of this world!

They have added two original numbers to their set now which really go down a storm. A brave move but one which definitely works. More are eagerly awaited lads!

The audience went wild and it seemed, for a few hours at least, that Wingrave that Saturday night was the only place in the world to be!
