Really quite impressed Audius Maximus on Sat 16th Feb 08
Audius Maximus's pageReview NOT edited by Lemonrock - original text rated as one of our top reviews As a musician, and a great fan of music, it's not often I can go to a gig without picking holes in a performance. Especially in a small pub in a fishing village. But these guys really impressed me. With a set list consisting of a series of classics, ranging from those too old for me to remember (I'm only 23), to those I know backwards, every track was performed with energy, passion, confidence and accuracy. Combined with excellent audience communication and a genuinely entertaining frontman, Audius Maximus quite simply rocked! Two tracks that stood out for me? Guns and roses-Sweet child o' mine. Often attempted, but seldom done justice. And Van Halen-Jump. Just because I love the song, and it got a great reaction. Definitely going to see these guys again. I recommend you do the same!

Whole Lotta Barracoodas BarraCoodas on Sat 12th Jan 08
BarraCoodas's pageReview edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. rated as one of our top reviews Have been trying to catch this band for a long time and am so glad I finally caught up with them! They didn't disappoint. From the moment they struck the first chord of the "Jean Genie" they had everybody's attention. They slid effortlessly between songs mixing indie with rock and blues. "Whole Lotta Rosie" blew me away and Shaun's vocals on "Californication" melted me!

These guys are so funny to - the banter they had with the crowd was hysterical. They go from self deprecating to crowd heckling and we loved it!

There wasn't a huge crowd in the Standard but the hospitality and atmosphere was A1. These guys certainly gave their all.

If you want a top night out you can't beat these guys for awesome music and sheer entertainment value. Can't wait to see them again!

cracking stuff Phil Smyth on Thu 10th Aug 06
Phil Smyth's pageReview edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. What a great night - Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, REM, Sterophonics, ZZ Top and a great Aled Jones cover!

Good times roll when this guy plays and he gets better with age.

He will do requests, is a great showman and can sort out the hecklers.

PS don't forget that tenner you promised me Phil

Great Gig Phil Smyth on Thu 10th Aug 06
Phil Smyth's pageReview edited by Lemonrock to improve readability, by consent of the band/artist, or owner of the page. Well, first time I have seen Phil play his solo gig, and what a way to show off those skills! It is so good to see a solo artist playing songs we all know, in a confident, engaging, talented fashion.

I would highly recommend everyone try to see Phil, you will enjoy it whatever music you are into.

Check out the website to find where he is playing, whether with Cover'd, The Gadge Band, or Solo.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 20th in the Ferryboat Phil.

Cheers all,

Nikki x

Print 3 flyers per A4 page, with marked cutting guides. Hint: setting your start date to the first of a month, and your end date to the last day of a month, gives a neat heading on your flyer, e.g. setting 1 May 2008 and 31 Aug 2008 as the start and end dates will produce the heading: 'MAY - AUGUST 08'. Try it! You can also set the font size to a decimal value (e.g. 9.3) to make the gigs fit exactly onto the page.
