 Rock 'til you Drop! The Village Inn, Exeter on Fri 22nd Feb 08 | |
  This was Scared Stiff!'s first performance at The Village Inn and I really hope that it won't be their last!
The audience was made up by the Village Inn regulars, family, friends and fans of the band and we all had a great evening!
One girl in particular danced from the very first note to the end of the last chord! Many others joined her and the rest of us were toe-tapping and clapping along to the delights of (amongst others) the Yardbirds' "The Nazz are Blue", which I hadn't heard for a long time, and the great Motown medleys of "Knock on Wood" and "In the Midnight Hour".

The Lansdowne Hotel was obviously THE place to go in Dawlish. Who can blame them when you had such an excellent band to entertain them!
There was much friendly banter between the band and the enthusiastic spectators and many people were up and dancing and really enjoying themselves.
It was the first public performance of the Kaiser Chief's "I Predict A Riot!" (and Paul, on keyboards, wore a "Peanut" hat to get everyone in the mood!) It went down really well with everyone watching and I'm sure that it will become a firm favourite in their repertoire. | |

| Reply from Scared Stiff !: Thanks for this Jules . . . . we're trying to be as hot as poss in venues like the Lansdowne . . . great feel to this venue and a GREAT crowd. Thanks also to Tony and the bar staff for helping to make it special . . we look forward to our next gig at the Lansdowne !

This was the first New Year's Eve/Day gig I had been to with Scared Stiff and wasn't too sure what to expect!
The guys were on top form and the audience (which seemed to ebb and flow during the course of the evening as groups came and went on their city pub crawl) really seemed to be enjoying the music and were very quickly up and dancing and asking for the band "more"!
I think the band played through just about their whole repertoire during the evening (at least once!) Jumping Jack Flash is one of their newer numbers and every time they play it, it just seems to get better and better! Mustang Sally and Black Night are always crowd pleasers and some of my favourites of the evening were Steady As She Goes (By the Raconteurs) and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood (By the Animals).
There were plenty of us there to make it a worthwhile and memorable event and I for one can't think of a better way to have end one year and begin the next!

The Crown & Sceptre in Newton St Cyres is the local pub for 2 of the band members and an ideal place for John to Celebrate his 60th Birthday surrounded by family, friends and fans of the band.
There was a wonderful friendly atmosphere and it was evident that the band were relaxed and comfortable in their surroundings and were really enjoying playing their pieces. One of my favourite songs of the night was the Beatles' "She was just 17/I saw her standing there"!
It seemed that wherever there was an empty space (and there wasn't too much of that around!) people were dancing their socks off! A great night was had by all, and John you look nowhere near your age - it must be the Rock and Roll that keeps you young! | |
