 fun night The Village Inn, Exeter on Sat 23rd Feb 08 | |
   A very raucous crowd made the mistake of doing some heckling. When this happened, most of Slippery Dick's comebacks were unprintable!
They had a great mix of songs and at one stage had the crowd singing Nellie the Elephant with a lady playing a triangle!
We heard songs from the Stray Cats, Stealers Wheel, The Beatles, The Monkees, Jimi Hendrix, Puddle of Mudd and a hilarious version of Heartbreak Hotel.
Mr Hugh Jarse played a blinder doing several new numbers while spending the evening throwing insults back at the singer.
They did 2 encores all in all - a fun night. | |

We turned up early for this gig and we were far from disappointed. Slippery Dick announced that this was the first gig together for him and Hugh. We listened and they played a great first and second set. We were treated to songs from Ray Charles to a puddle of mud from an excellent version of Whitesnake's 'Is this Love' to Lonnie Donegan's 'My Old Man's a Dustman' (that one got the whole place singing).
There were numbers by James, the Beatles, Steve Miller, Elvis Presley and many more. There was a good size crowd in, some expecting to see J Y Kelly, who were very complimentary at the end of the evening. Rumour has it these 2 are going to play again in February we'll look forward to that. | |
