Souljacker[Rock, 5 piece]    Based: Oxford
SouljackerFormed as 'Devious Steve' in September 2004 whilst still at school these boys rapidly built up an enthusiastic following in the West Oxon & East Gloucestershire area playing their own guitar rock tracks. In the summer of 2005 they appeared on the Riverside Stage at the Oxford Cornbury Festival and the acclaim they won there inspired them to continue developing their unique brand of original material, renaming as Souljacker in late 2005. The band are influenced by 70's acts such as Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix and current bands like Opeth and Clutch, but there is a high-energy jazz-funk element that continually surprises and excites their audiences. The live shows are exhilarating and the band's musical technique and range is astonishing. Front man Patch Burley engages the crowd with a maturity beyond his years whilst belting out soulful vocals like an old pro and the band's mischievous sense of humour is clear from their interaction on stage and from the tongue-in-cheek lyrics of favourites like 'Naked' and 'Jimmy Page Drank my Tea'. However, Souljacker take their product very seriously and they were voted best unsigned band for March 2008 by Ultimate Guitar. In May 2008 'Eat My Dust' was Lemonrock's mp3 of the week and Souljacker were flagged as their Band of the Week. Still only 18 & 19 years old, as a unit they're energetic, very very tight and sound like they've been playing for decades.

The band is currently busy writing and rehearsing as much new material as possible whilst still taking every opportunity to perform in public. As a result their live show and new material just gets better and better.

Souljacker have set crowds alight at venues ranging from the dark, heated hothouse of the HAMMERSMITH PALAIS, to the pastoral CORNBURY MUSIC FESTIVAL and RAGGED HEDGE FAIR; but they are equally at home at smaller venues such as the Jericho Tavern in Oxford or Birmingham's Mono Bar. These guys just like playing!

Forthcoming gigs (2 of 2 total): Sat 15th Nov: The Curriers Arms, Wootton Bassett... Sat 29th Nov: The Primrose, Leeds
