Anti-SPAM Controls
Lemonrock has a zero tolerance towards SPAM ("junk e-mail") and spammers (the people who send SPAM). This means that we give our members as much protection as possible from receiving unwanted e-mails through the Lemonrock site. We have a range of measures to protect our members:

WEB MAIL

With Web mail, you can receive messages from other people without them knowing your e-mail address. Lemonrock keeps your e-mail address hidden. This applies to contacting members through their band, artist or venue page, and to the Lemonrock messaging system and the ad reply system.

CAPTCHAs

example CAPTCHAThis is a CAPTCHA(*) - a computer-generated graphic that contains a phrase or word that is very difficult for a computer to read, but which is easy for a human to read. We use CAPTCHAs with all our Web mail. Our CAPTCHAs are extra secure because each one lasts only for an hour - it's no good to anyone after that - even 'code-cracking houses'.

ANTI-SPAM PASSWORDS

Each Lemonrock member can also set up a unique password or code word that Lemonrock puts into the e-mail header when sending e-mails to members. This covers web-mail, and mail from Lemonrock such as gig alerts and subscription reminders.

To set up your anti-spam password, login and edit your my details section.

You can use anti-spam passwords in conjunction with your anti-spam software (e.g. MailWasher Pro) to ensure that you always receive e-mails from Lemonrock, instead of losing them to your spam filter.

Choose a unique, hard-to-guess word, that is known only to you. Include digits as well, to make your word even harder for spammers to guess.

Make sure that you update your spam filter, specifying this text.

Example: If you set your password to 'neenah2660', specify in your spam filter something like: 'If the Subject field contains "neenah2660" then treat the message as legitimate mail'. In this example, Lemonrock would send all automatic e-mails to you with [ANTI-SPAM neenah2660] added to the end of the 'Subject' line.

TOTAL FREEDOM

Of course, if you don't mind your e-mail address being shown, you can show it - the choice is yours. Simply choose which options you want in your my details section, 'my bands/artists' section or 'my venues' section when you login.

______________
* CAPTCHA stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. (The English mathematician, Professor Alan Turing (1912 - 1954), described an experiment, now referred to as the "Turing Test", in which a human judge converses with a human and a computer without knowing which is which. Turing is often considered to be the father of modern computer science.)
