Spiegel Tent Bath, Bath[Festival]
www.bathfringe.co.uk
The annual arrival of the Bath Fringe Festival's Spiegeltent, one of the most eagerly awaited events on the Bath entertainments calendar, brings a performance venue of a size (and a beauty) that Bath simply doesn't have the rest of the year round, enabling us to put on the kind of artists you simply wouldn't see without travelling to London or beyond (we take care not to book main acts who have recently been seen in Bristol or other surrounding towns as well). And this year we've got a bigger one so we can just edge up their desirability a few more percentage points. The Caroussel tents have been seen at Glastonbury (if you made it through the mud to the Dance Village), though this one is being brought into the country just for us. It's still in the classic '30s style, of course, and Bath audiences are used to such sumptuous surroundings by now - if perchance you're coming to us new, take a look at the pictures and imagine yourselves reclining among the mirrors and panelling, listening to great music and comedy. Then take a look at who's on and get booking! Make sure you take in the early evening and weekend afternoon entertainment too: we've selected the cream of emerging talent from the region (and some old favourites) so that you can afford come and hang out in this bijou atmosphere at the end of a hard day in town as well as the evening. A fully equipped bar and a new Restaurant serving hot food all day will be available to customers in the garden outside as well as those inside. We've moved back nearer the river, but still on the Recreation Ground, you'll find us where we were the year before last, if you're lost.

Forthcoming acts (1 of 1 total): Tue 27th May: James Hollingsworth + The Mandrake Project

The Mandrake Project (Other) James Hollingsworth and his acoustic band + The Mandrake Project each perform a set of songs by the late great Tim Buckley as part of Bath Fringe Festival. Hollingsworth will be appearing with Sandro Granda on percussion, Zac Gregory on double bass, Danny Shayler on guitar and Tobi Hunke on vibrophone. The Mandrake Project are Ash Mandrake (guitar and vocals), Amadou Diege (percussion), Catherine Hurley (flute) and Daniel Ebl (bass).

"Probably the first thing to strike every listener is James striking voice. The only comparison I can readily make, is to the voice of Tim Buckley, and this is something I do not suggest glibly. The vocals rise clear and pure, soaring high as they deliver the words... in places they will drop in pitch to bring emphasis to certain lines and phrases. This is a talent few singers possess and in the right hands it becomes a most effective tool. It is little wonder that legendary producer John Burns (Genesis, Jethro Tull, etc) recently exclaimed "What a voice!" I only wish I'd heard it before now." - Woven Wheat Whispers.

Please consider the environment before printing this flyer.
Print 3 flyers per A4 page, with marked cutting guides. Hint: setting your start date to the first of a month, and your end date to the last day of a month, gives a neat heading on your flyer, e.g. setting 1 May 2008 and 31 Aug 2008 as the start and end dates will produce the heading: 'MAY - AUGUST 08'. Try it! You can also set the font size to a decimal value (e.g. 9.3) to make the gigs fit exactly onto the page.
Flyers limited to 14 days. Get longer flyers by joining Lemonrock - FREE Music Lover membership!
