Strange Folk[Rock, 4 piece]
|
Strange Folk evolved in 2002, & are based in Herts. But there's nothing strange about this band of three guys & one girl, or their music - which is Retro rock like you have never heard before! A class act with total commitment at all live performances. Strange Folk write all of their own material - a fusion of many influences. The band also perform a wide range of cover songs. Members are: Annalise Spurr-Vocals/song writer Originally from Somerset, & comes from a musical family with a north-east & Armenian background. Annalise's influences are mostly from the 60's & 70's, & include Janis Joplin, The Doors, T-Rex, Blondie, System of a Down & Alice in Chains. Her vocals are strong & unique & give this band their distinctive edge. Dave Setterfield-Guitars/song writer Brought up in Hertfordshire, & was surrounded by 60's & 70's music throughout his childhood. Dave's influences include Jimi Hendrix, Free, The Who & Peter Green. He studied music at college with Annalise, & then gained a degree in Music Business at university. Dave's guitar style, & creative songwriting skills, expresses the sound & style of the band. Ian Prangnell-Bass Born & bred in Hertfordshire, was very involved with music at school. He has been involved with several bands, playing guitar & bass since he was 13. Ian's influences include Blind Melon, Jimi Hendrix, Genesis & Led Zeppelin. His knowledge of music theory, & driving bass lines, are an integral part of the band's sound. Steve Birkett-Drums Born & bred in the Peak District of Derbyshire, & has been a drummer with a selection of bands both in the North & in London, before he finally settled in Hertfordshire. A love for Heavy Metal adds more 'rock' to the approach & drive of the band; while influences of a more mellow nature are reflected in the melodic essence of Strange Folk's songs. Steve's influences include Jimi Hendrix, Judas Priest, Lindisfarne, P.J. Harvey, Saxon, & Slayer
