Great Saturday night out The Reserves on Sat 8th Sep 07
It was the 2nd time we'd seen The Reserves at the Victoria and if we thought it was busy back in April then this time the place was packed.
They obviously have a large fan base but I heard someone say they'd been passing the pub and came in because they sounded so good.
They played a great selection of covers. Kaiser Chiefs, The Smiths, The Jam, The Killers, The View and Arctic Monkeys songs went down really well. "Hangin' on the Telephone" got a huge cheer but song of the night had to be "Rio" which was chanted again for a second encore!
Musically the band were very tight and they enjoyed playing all the songs. The audience loved every minute and were dancing and singing along from the first song. A fantastic night. Hope to see them again very soon!

Great atmosphere The Reserves on Sat 8th Sep 07
The first thing I noticed is that the pub was so packed you couldn't get bar very easily!
The Reserves are a band that don't ease you into the evening...
"Rock n Roll Star" maybe a bit tongue in cheek as a first song but by the third they were playing The Smiths' "This Charming Man"... not a common song for a pub band and it delighted a lot of ex students...
By the fifth song the singer informed us that the gig would be halted for a minute or two as the bass player was being enquired about a booking!
And that's just how the gig started and continued...
The Reserves put a lot of energy and effort into all the songs they play and make you feel part of the gig AND they were rewarded by everyone singing and jumping along with them (Eton Rifles, Rio... twice!, I Predict a Riot, Chelsea Dagger to name a few...)
Great atmosphere... Great gig...
Check this band out... soon!

Hit Hitchin Fridge Magnates on Sat 11th Aug 07
We enjoyed our first visit to the Victoria last night - loved the Pink Floyd number, and the Prince number was... interesting? Good mix of songs, and brilliant lead guitar and drums. A great evening out, and keep up the banter. Hope to see you in the Plume of Feathers soon, where the crowd know how to dance!

Reply from Fridge Magnates: Thanks for your kind comments ladies! (Visited the Plume 22/08/07. Nice pub with a musical landlord! However, I have doubts about playing there as they want a demo CD and seem to operate a "first gig trial payment" scheme. I'm discouraged because we're an established band and I know several of the acts already playing there don't even have demos. That said, if you can persuade the pub to book us solely on your recommendation & for the full amount, we'll be there! Cheers, Paul (Bass Bloke)
