 Trapp-tastic! The Goat, Berkhamsted on Fri 25th Jan 08 | |
  It was the first time the Von Trapps had played at the Goat, but hopefully it won't be the last!
As they didn't 'sound check', we wondered what sort of band they'd be. We needn't have worried, they were right up our street, playing some of my favourite songs. I don't think I've ever seen another pub band play 'Back of my hand' by the Jags and definitely not seen anyone do Pink's 'Trouble' with as much energy!
For a bunch of middle aged chancers (their words, not mine!) they can really put on a great gig!
Please, please come back and I'll make sure we get a crowd in!

For all those poor souls who have not yet encountered The Von Trapps, you're missing out big time!
Possibly the greatest pub band in England.
Not only do they have a great set list, but they play with a nonchalant style, without any delusions of grandeur.
The banter between band and crowd was hilarious, as always!
The regular faces at the Von Trapps gigs were on top form, hurling abuse and dancing like lunatics ('Trigger' the Postie, more than most. Shirt off after the second track and bouncing off the walls!). Good work people!!
The mix of comedy tracks, such as 'Girls Aloud's' Love Machine (done with tongue firmly in cheek) and serious covers, such as 'She sells sanctuary' by the Cult is a refreshing change from the usual pub band staples.
Captain Jon 'Posh' Goode, keeps the crowd going with his tirade of profanity and Dom 'seven foot skinhead' Drums is a Rock GOD!
