West London Song ContestThis is a singer / songwriter event, which is free and open to the public, happening monthly and organised by Elaine Samuels. The events are held at the Castle pub, in Isleworth, on the last Sunday of every month now, the last one being on August 31st. There is an hour's competition (entry to which is free) in the first half, where 5 singer / song-writers, who entered the competition by contacting Elaine in advance and passing a selection process (to ensure a minimum standard), perform two of their own songs. The competitors are judged by Elaine, the featured guest of the month and the audience (who get one vote overall). In the second half, the featured guest singer / song-writer (who is a more established artist) performs a 30min feature spot, the competition winner is then announced and the winner performs their own 30min "winner feature spot". There is a small cash prize for each show winner plus a 15min spot at this year's Brentford Festival, which last year attracted crowds of over 10,000.
