AC/ZZuk [AC/DC & ZZ Top Tribute Band, 3 piece]
Smugglers Inn, Blue Anchor
26 Aug 2022Smugglers Inn, Blue Anchor
Smugglers Inn in Blue AnchorAs some say in these parts, "'Twas a corker!" it was an early start at 7pm, but there were plenty in attendance on a lovely summer evening, The weather was in positive mood for us as was the audience who arrived on foot, cars and of course being a Bike Night, lots of fab motorcycles were lined up. We played in a gazebo but it wasn't necessary and the after setting up on the lawn around the divots and old mole hills we kicked off with the first of our 2 sets. It went well from the start and a lot turned up late thinking we were starting at 8pm, even though almost everyone of our notices had 7pm on them (honest!). That didn't dampen the evening, the more the merrier and everyone got in the groove and enjoyed the Bon Scott era of ACDC and the celebrated hits of ZZ Top. The Smuggler's is renowned for it's great food and drink, last night the fabulous BBQ was in full swing as well with burgers and sausages to drool over. Mark and the staff were fantastic as always and a fabulous night was had by all concerned. Our thanks to all for coming and making the night a success, we had a blast. Normal start time on Saturday (9pm ish) at the Racehorse in Taunton, again on the patio as the weather looks to be kind again. There may be a special hot guest on Saturday, as if we aren't hot enough, look out for a hell of an evening.Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Saturday 27th August 2022 at The Racehorse Inn, Taunton - details on Lemonrock at:https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=793630Don
The Lucombe Oak, Exeter
21 Aug 2022The Lucombe Oak, Exeter
The Lucombe Oak in ExeterAfter a lovely pleasant drive across the moors I arrived at The Lucombe Oak early around 6.45pm for a 9.30pm start, Andy and John weren't far behind me. We were greeted by the always fantastic staff, Lars the landlord and surprisingly some people who had travelled from a way away to see us. "You're keen" I said. "We are where you are concerned. We love the Bon Scott ACDC and ZZ Top tunes you play and you perform them so well, we never miss a show when you are down this way". Very kind words to arrive to, makes the journey and the effort worth while. The first set was played to a mixed crowd, of course lots of fans and the general public. The 2nd set however, changed a little. I think the FB live videos some the "keen" people posted seemed to bring in more rocky people top the pub and the second set was great and all had a "rocking good time"Our thanks to all concerned. Special thanks to the people who made an effort to come and support us, some as far away as Newton Abbott and Exmouth. We really appreciate that and all your dancing and singing helps the night to go from good to great.Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Thursday 25th August 2022 at Smugglers Inn, Blue Anchor. It is a free gig but is EARLY. We start at 7pm. All welcome.- details on Lemonrock at:https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=799598Don
Minehead Barbarians RFC, Ellicombe

"Through the Thunder of Harley Davidsons came the Roar of ACZZuk" was the great quote from one of the organisers of this fantastic gig. We started at 3pm and were outside but under cover in a marquee. There was a ride out at 11am across Exmoor for the club members and they were due back at 3pm. We started and the majority were back ready to enjoy the show, but as quoted we heard a couple of late arrivals and they thundered across Minehead Rugby club towards their respective tents as we played (Roared) the best of Bon Scott ACDC and the hits of ZZ Top. Audience numbers rose considerably for the start of the 2nd set, with extra tables and chairs being pulled into place and the crowd grew & grew. We also had locals coming in to enjoy the show too and they loved it. We finished at the allotted time only to be asked to do a few extras over and above the encores. We did so and the crowd were very vocal and appreciated the fact we went that extra mile for them. Thanks to all the organisers with special mention to Mandy who made us very welcome and all the others who made it a fantastic afternoon. We made a lot of new friends and we had a lot of requests for our cards and available dates, so you never know, you may see us at other festivals in the near future. We LOVE bike rallies, as the music goes down so well, and there's nothing better than playing to a knowledgeable and appreciative crowd, like today. See you all soonMinehead Barbarians RFC in EllicombeHope to see you at our next gig, which is on Saturday 20th August 2022 at The Lucombe Oak, Exeter - details on Lemonrock at:https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=777290Don
Esplanade Club, Watchet (Last Minute Gig)
17 Jul 2022Esplanade Club, Watchet (Last Minute Gig)
Esplanade Club in WatchetWe were all set for a private party and had the all too familiar call, sorry Covid has hit the birthday party recipient, so our Saturday gig was postponed, hope you feel better soon. Not a day later, Roy from the Esplanade put out a call for a band for last night as the scheduled band was hit by Covid (again get well soon) so I answered the call and Roy said yes! We were only there 3 weeks ago but Roy always wants live music so we went into poster, FB, Instagram, Lemonrock, marketing mode from every angle we could as we only had 3 days to let people know. Well it worked as a lot of people turned out for us last night and we were pleased to see them. The 1st set was a little quieter inside as the tables out were rammed, but it was reported a lot were bopping on their seats. Set 2 got underway and they piled in to dance and singalong. Roy has great Air Con in there so it was pleasant, and we had our fans (things that go round to move air, rather than humans that like us, although they were there too LOL). There is a great story about John (guitarist) new air cooling fan, but that's for another day, lets just say it looked different in the picture and had reminders of Stonehenge from Spinal Tap ;-).The sets went a storm as they normally do with Bon Scott era AC/DC hits and the favourites of ZZ Top. Roy was great on the lights as always and the sound was good, again as always, love this club. Staff were brilliant and we all had a great time, Thanks again Roy and pleased we could help each other out is was a fab night.Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Saturday 23rd July 2022 at Minehead Barbarians RFC, Ellicombe, a ticketed event for Somerset Harley Davidson Club, but all welcome, you can pay on the door to see us and later a fantastic Glam Rock Tribute. - details on Lemonrock at:https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=784276Don
