The Castle, named after the long gone Wem Castle, is the oldest pub in Wem, evidenced by the county maps and census records. The building is ancient and dates back over 400 years and is pretty much the oldest building in the Joule’s estate. Wem is a delightful county town with a handful of specialist shops and not one, but two, Joule’s Taphouses!
