The Dastardlys [Mod Covers, 4 piece]
The Newmarket Tavern, Plymouth on Sat 26th Sep 2015
First time hearing The Dastardlys...certainly wasn't disappointed . Very professional from start to finish. Brilliant set list. Something to appeal to everyone , bringing back memories of 'misspent youths' to some, and introducing some class tunes to others. It is always good to come across a band who offer something different to the norm. There were plenty of people willing to show off their amazing dancing skills. I hope that this band become regular visitors to our venue.

If you are looking for good music & a good night's entertainment The Dastardlys are for you! Every song they played brought back loads of memories & their MOD/SKA set is a must for anyone looking to take themselves back to their youth. Great song choices and the immense passion put in by the guys shines through. A real talented band full of energy and great musical talent playing 60s, Northern Soul and MOD covers and own material. There is no doubt the band enjoys the gig as much as the audience and the small moments of individualism engaged the fans more than perhaps the band themselves realise. At the end of the evening the landlord Glyn at the 'Sandy' (St.Austell) pub gave the guys a big thank you for a great night and confirmed he wanted the band back again soon. He asked for a few songs to finish off a great evening before letting them finish. To which the Dastardlys replied with three more great tunes to end a fantastic night of great entertainment. I have to say, if you don't go and see these guys you are missing a good night out. On a final note look out for the song 'MARMITE' you will either love it or hate it!! See you soon Debi (KTF)

The Dastardlys play a mixture of classic covers and original material. I have seen them several times, and although the Mount Pleasant was reasonably quiet on the night of the gig due to some kind of international football tournament in Brazil, I would say that this was one of the band's best performances. There was a good deal of banter and humour between the band members and the audience. BriseyW's lead guitar windmills punctuated the rockier songs nicely, and Tony's vocals had a cool "edgy" sound to them. Gareth's drum solo was an unexpected bonus, and Marc's bass held the whole thing together. The "stand-out" song of the evening for me was definitely "Pinball Wizard". The Dastards own material is so catchy, that I found myself singing along to "Summer Sun" All in all, an evening well spent. Disclaimer: I am a Dastardlys fan, and you will be too if you get to see them live!
