DeLorean [Rock Covers, 5 piece]

You guys F***ING ROCKED last night!! I'd heard the rumours that you lot were the best band around right now, but didn't believe it... But it's true!! I've seen nearly all the bands on the circuit and NONE of them are a patch on you! I'll come and see you again for sure! Your singer is phenomenal by the way - and the rest of you too for that matter! Thank you for an ace night!!! Posted on Deloreanband.co.uk 24/10/10

Sometimes you just have a good feeling about a band. DeLorean are one of those bands. They were already setting up at 7.30 when we arrived at The Blacksmiths, and they did so with little fuss; good quality instruments and sound system, lights, a soundman, a 5-piece band including - unusually - a keyboard player, and an already-dressed-for-the-part flamboyant-looking frontman. What could possibly go wrong?
Well, nothing went wrong. If our expectations were set initially high, they were never dashed as the band launched into their set, 100% energy from the very first note, and sustaining the level throughout their two hour set.
The performance was impressive, both musically and personality-wise. With a dedicated soundman and a very well mixed sound that was respectfully contained within listenable volume levels, the band's songs were captivating. Lead singer Sean also plays lead guitar with skill and passion, so there was a rich, satisfying mix of sounds: vocals, 2 guitars, bass, drums and keyboard. The song arrangements work very well; partly because the players are deliberately creating space for each other, and partly because the soundman is on the case - he knows the songs, knows the players, and he knows his rig.
Sean's vocal ability is quite stunning - easily on a par with the best of the 70s/80s rock giants like Paul Rodgers, Jon Bon Jovi, and Freddie Mercury - and he changes vocal styles to fit the songs, making this band a refreshing change from the usual 4 or 5 piece.
The bass and drums were solid and rhythmic, the guitar and keyboard work superb and very easy to hear alongside the vocals, and the twin guitar work was spot-on.
DeLorean are a band who will keep an audience engaged and happy for hours on end - the choice of music is relatively narrow, but there are so many great songs from the 70s and 80s that beg to be on the DeLorean set list. My personal favourites from Friday evening were Alice Cooper's Poison (not played enough by bands!), and all the Bon Jovi songs, which is strange for someone who has no Bon Jovi albums!
Chatting with the band after the gig revealed truly genuine, unpretentious attitudes from musicians who love doing what they do. Landlords - get this band! DeLorean - come back soon!

Sunday 15 August 2010Thanks Mac, we're really pleased you had a great time because we did too!
And many thanks for writing a review, we appreciate every time someone takes time to sit and write applause and reviews as we feel that if the audience has had as good a time as we do, then we've done our job!
We had a lot of fun at The Blacksmiths Arms and we would love to get back down there sooner rather than later!
All the best
DeLorean

Went to the Plough and Harrow in Harpenden, with my Dad and brother on Sat 17 July. Delorean were playing. Best band I've ever seen in a pub, they totally rocked the joint. Everybody at some point should get to seem them. We all enjoyed the night and could have watched them for many more hours. Guys, as I said, you need to gig in London, they would love you!!!! (Then I could see you more too)!!!! See you again soon. Jules. [This was sent via web form from www.deloreanband.co.uk]
