5 Aug 2018Denham Garden Village, Denham GreenWe enjoyed another excellent evening at The Denham Restaurant and Bar in Denham Garden Village, Denham Green. Though open to the general public, it's in a retirement community and so many of the audience were of mature years. But that didn't stop them from getting up and jigging about enthusiastically in the nicely air-conditioned venue. That feature was a boon as it was still very warm outside at that time of the evening. The place wasn't full by any means, but we still had plenty of applause and compliments, much appreciated. This is one of our favourite regular bookings and we look forward to the next time here. Many thanks to all the patrons and staff. Our next gig at time of writing is on Saturday 25th August 2018 at St Joseph's Parish Centre, Luton - details on Lemonrock at: https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=571066Tony Young

22 Apr 2018Denham Garden Village, Denham GreenWe had a very nice gig last night at The Denham Restaurant and Bar, Denham Garden Village in Denham Green. We'd had to rush over from Burnham, where we'd been playing earlier in the evening, and in consequence we arrived a little later than we normally would. But there was still just time to get the gear in and set up in time to start at the appointed hour. The venue wasn't exactly empty, but there were fewer people in than usual. However, we recognised many familiar faces, regulars, and they greeted us warmly. We played our usual mixture of stuff, had some nice applause and got a fair number up dancing, especially towards the end. This is a nice venue with nice patrons. It's one of our favourites and we look forward to playing here again in the future.Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Saturday 28th April 2018 at The Office, Northolt - details on Lemonrock at: https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=545307Tony Young

25 Feb 2018Denham Garden Village, Denham GreenAs always, a most enjoyable gig last night at The Denham Restaurant & Bar, to give it its proper name, situated in Denham Garden Village in Denham Green. It's never hugely crowded, but the generally mature audience clearly enjoyed what we were doing, there was some dancing and we got a lot of compliments. It's a very civilised venue where we do like to play and we look forward to future visits. Thanks to Paul Harris, the manager, to his staff and to everyone else who was there.Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Saturday 10th March 2018 at The Oak, Borehamwood - details on Lemonrock at: https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=554577Tony Young

18 Jun 2017Denham Garden Village, Denham GreenAnother excellent gig last night at Denham Garden Village in Denham Green. There was a wedding party on and the guests were responsive and supportive and danced enthusiastically, as did many of the other punters present. We were pleased to see a particular couple who have been there on our previous gigs – rumoured to be professional dancers, a very beautiful mature lady and her partner. They were a joy to watch and later told us that they'd come especially because we were appearing and they thought we were the best band to work there. Praise indeed. Thanks to them and to everyone else who came along to this most enjoyable gig.Our next one is on Saturday 24th June 2017 at High Wycombe Liberal Club, High Wycombe - details on Lemonrock at: https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=517382Tony Young

2 Apr 2017Denham Garden Village, Denham GreenLast night's gig at Denham Garden Village in Denham Green was a little quieter than usual. There was a birthday party going on "round the corner" in the restaurant section; the birthday girl's name was Barbara and we sang Happy Birthday to her as the cake was cut. But the rest of the venue wasn't as well-populated as we've sometimes seen it, although the punters who were in applauded warmly, danced a bit and paid us some nice compliments at the end of the evening. We do enjoy working here and look forward to our future bookings later in the year. Thanks to Neil, the bar manager, and to everyone who came along. Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Saturday 8th April 2017 at Greenford Conservative Club, Greenford - details on Lemonrock at: https://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=513176Tony Young

25 Dec 2016Denham Garden Village, Denham GreenLast night's Christmas Eve gig in the very pleasant restaurant and bar at Denham Garden Village in Denham Green was excellent. We were welcomed by the bar manager, Peter Pratt, who was very accommodating and helpful, and who used our PA to conduct a raffle before we got started. The place wasn't crammed, but there was a good crowd all the same, who applauded warmly and got up dancing almost from the off. We played a variety of stuff, mostly old, and slung in a couple of Christmassy songs, as you do.Everybody seemed very happy, we received many compliments and altogether it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We look forward to some return visits to this very nice venue during 2017.Thanks to Peter, Melanie and everyone who was there.Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on New Year's Eve, Saturday 31st December 2016 at Cricklewood Trades Hall Club & Institute, Cricklewood - details on Lemonrock at: http://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=484092Tony Young

21 Aug 2016Denham Garden Village, Denham GreenWhat an excellent gig last night at Denham Garden Village in Denham Green. Denham Garden Village is a retirement community, but the restaurant and bar in which we played are open to the public. Last night the occasion was the 95th birthday celebration of a big fan of Arsenal Football Club (well, nobody's perfect!) and a large section of the restaurant had been set aside for family and friends, all of whom were appropriately dressed in red and white. The birthday boy, Fred, was remarkably spry and didn't look anything like his age.As soon as we started playing, people were up dancing and the floor was pretty well occupied all the time. A couple of mature professional dancers were present and they were a pleasure to watch, especially the extremely attractive lady. We played quite a broad variety of material and every song or tune was greeted with warm applause from the appreciative crowd. We received many compliments and on request gave out a fair few business cards during the brief breaks. In strong chalk-and-cheese contrast to some recent gigs, that was much more like it. I found myself in good voice, the fingers were nimble, the adrenalin flowed and much fun was had by all.Congratulations to Fred and many thanks to everyone who was there and made it a superb night for us.Hope to see you at our next gig, which is on Saturday 27th August 2016 at The Bodhran, Hendon - details on Lemonrock at:http://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=468942Tony Young
