Joanne Rozario (clarinet)
Joanne and pianist Neil Crossland will be playing a varied programme showcasing the versatility of the clarinet. Ranging from the drama of Schumann’s Fantasy Pieces to toe tapping fun with swinging Benny Goodman, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Joanne studied the clarinet and saxophone at the Royal Academy of Music, London and in 1993 took the position of assistant principal clarinet with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. After performing in the Sunset Ceremony marking Hong Kong's return to China she briefly returned to London before heading off to South Africa where she was principal clarinet with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra. Joanne now holds the position of principal clarinet with Northern Ballet. She now tours extensively with the company alongside performing solo and chamber music concerts.
Yukiko Shinohara (piano)
Yukiko will be playing her favourite classical piano pieces by Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninov, and Poulenc’s cabaret inspired piece written as a homage to the legendary French chanson singer, Edith Piaf.
Yukiko was born in Ibaraki, Japan, and studied at Goldsmith’s College (University of London) under late Susan Bradshaw, and later studied with Douglas Finch at Trinity College of Music where she received an MMus Degree and Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Performance with Distinction.
In earlier days she championed in contemporary repertoire. She was a Park Lane Group Young Artist doing solo recital at South Bank Centre, and premiered Benjamin Britten's early piano works in Aldeburgh Festival, as well as performing in contemporary music festivals in Europe and Japan.
She is a faculty member at Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance in London and teaches piano privately. She performs solo and chamber music on land as well as on cruise ships worldwide.
