Half Life [Rock Covers, 5 piece]
Half Life and Soul of the Party13 Nov 2019Half Life and Soul of the Party Well we loved playing at Jo Sprowson’s 50th! A brilliant party venue (The Barn at The Horn) and a crowd who came to party - although the copious Prosecco flowing may have had something to do with that! Common People and Tainted Love seemed to go down very well and we even had the bar staff singing along to Don’t Look Back in Anger by the end. We stayed and partied with the birthday girl til just before 2! Thanks for having us and hope you had an awesome time!
Rose & Crown 11th October 201912 Oct 2019Rose & Crown 11th October 2019 Loaded up with 10 new covers the electric eco-friendly scooter that is Half Life rattled its way back into their second home in St Michael’s Village. A frenetic beginning of Hate to Say I Told You So segued into Girl All the Bad Guys Want and Word Up as the crowd started to pack the pub to its Georgian rafters. As frontman Hugh Sprowson tried not to bang his head on the roof whilst pogoing to Should I Stay or Should I Go, the tight sounds of Guitarists Donk and Russ, bass Alan and effervescent drummer Pete blasted into the night. Finishing on a slick finale of Chelsea Dagger, All These Things I’ve Done and an audience singalong to the encore of Don’t Look Back In Anger, the crowd left happy and energised, but for the band perhaps the greatest risk was their first performance of Knights of Cydonia, a snippet of which is attached. It went down very well, and can only improve. They are gearing up for their gig at the Horn in February 2020 and on this performance are well on track.
The Big 5-0 (Evans 50th Party 6th July 2019)14 Jul 2019The Big 5-0 (Evans 50th Party 6th July 2019) A fantastic evening at OAs for the Evans’ 50th Birthday party. Things we learned - our guitarist Donk can continue strumming whilst throwing himself to the ground (and getting up again) during our rendition of Tubthumping, and as a rock covers band obviously we were delighted to hear that the best-received song of the night was our version of 9 to 5. Was kind of hoping that might have been a ‘one night only’ thing but as is so often the way it now seems it might have inveigled its way into more permanent status! Great night though and looking forward to our next 50th party in November!
Fry day to Hell1 Jul 2019Fry day to Hell Back at the R&C following our debut 3 weeks ago, an even bigger crowd had packed in drawn in by Summer, which had eventually arrived dragging its feet like a weary schoolboy. Despite some microphone-related technical issues, we careered through a set including new covers of Prince and AC/DC with the crowd roaring along to Should I Stay or Should I Go and Parklife. This is a perfect pub for live music, but on such a hot day the historic building with its low ceiling did cause us to perspire so freely we could have doubled up as mobile shower units. A great night and hopefully some new fans! We hope to be back soon!
