The Hertfordshire Big Band was formed in 2003, originally stemming from the Hertfordshire Concert Band. Having now been established for over 15 years, the band is now recognised as a successful community band whose key principles are to have fun, challenge themselves and improve.

Based in Welwyn Garden City, the band is made up of musicians across Hertfordshire from all walks of life and professions.

The band plays at events across the county in addition to hosting their own gigs, including their annual Christmas Concert which has become a popular fixture in the area.

The band has enjoyed regular tours to Spain which has featured performances in Barcelona, Girona and Figueres.

As part of the band's commitment to improve they have participated in the National Concert Band Festival and have been awarded Platinum and Gold.
