Kirsta Johnston [Covers, Solo Artist]
A great night of music from Kirsta. Great upbeat performance for the new year party. Saw in 2020 with the bells and a great rendition of auld Lang’s ayne from Kirsta getting the whole place on the dance floor. Lovely singer with such a wide range of songs to keep the party going. Thanks Kirsta for a great nightShirley, Thursday 2 January 2020
Saw Kirsta for the first time, accompanied by Paul Davis at Cafe Rouge on April 3rd. It was very enjoyable. Kirsta is an excellent singer with a lovely rich melodic voice. Paul was an very good accompanist and performing as part of a duo helped his backing harmony vocals stand out a bit more, compared with when he performs with a band. The set list was drawn from a wide range of bands and singers but with many of the songs given an original "Kirsta treatment". The sound level was perfect; loud enough to hear but not so loud as to make dinner conversation difficult. It was the first time I had had dinner at Cafe Rouge and the meal was very good too. All in all an extemely pleasant and civilised way to spend a Wednesday evening.Thursday 4 April 2019
Thank you very much for coming along with your wife last night and it was lovely to meet you both. That is kind of you to take the time to write a review and I'm glad you had an enjoyable evening. We will definitely add some Dido covers and Adele! It's good to know we are creating just the right ambiance for this particular venue and our song choices are appreciated. We are always trying new repertoire that works for a duo of our kind with the 'Kirsta' treatment! Hope to see you again soon. Best wishes, Kirsta
Ok so as an Entertainment Secretary your constantly sent an avalanche of cds and mp3s from various singers and bands who sound fantastic but then fail to sound anything like those cds when they hit the stage. Well with Kirsta Johnston she sounds even more incredible live with a fantastic voice she captivated the audience from the first song to the last with that lovely Celtic lilt and singing a great collection of music from folk to Motown from country to pop. Any venue booking this young lady will be giving their audience a fantastic treat. Well done Kirsta

Thank you Pete. That is so kind of you to take the time and trouble to create this applause and for your encouraging words. We arrived at the venue on a wet and cold dark Sunday evening, not quite sure of what to expect and we were met with such a warm reception from yourself and an equally appreciative and engaging audience from the members. How could I not perform well! Well done to you and I look forward to my return next year. Have a very merry Christmas, Best wishes, Kirsta

Many Girls tread the boards as Singers and hide a lack of musical quality behind a pretty face, but in the case of Kirsta Johnston, the pretty face also reveals a fine voice, a very pleasant and warm tone that at its best conveys a meaningful and touching sincerity, at least in certain songs.
I know that a working vocalist has to cover many styles, but I feel that Kirsta has a particular story to tell, which for me, at times, is stretched too far away from that purpose in the service of the public. Some of the songs chosen didn't seem to fit with that certain warm and enigmatic quality that is so endearing in songs like "To Make You Feel My Love" and "Annie's Song", and especially in "Sometimes When We Touch", which for me, captures almost exactly the magic tone and mood I want to hear from her, truly a cut above the venues she is appearing in, and deserving of much better fame and fortune.
I don't feel she is a natural improvising singer, I preferred her singing definite lines and producing that lovely sound and certainty. In some of the songs like "I Get Along Without You Very Well" I thought the key was a tad too high, a lower key would have given me that nice rich sound I craved from some of the songs already mentioned. Some of the backing tracks used were a bit weak too, perhaps more care needed in choosing suitable tracks?
I feel though that with a bit more guidance and direction, we have here a fine vocalist who perhaps doesn't yet realise how good she can yet be. Definitely much for Kirsta and us to look forward to.

Dear Andrew, Thank you for attending my gig on Sunday and for sharing some very positive comments on my vocal performance. I was just trying to figure out if I had made eye contact with you through the evening!
It's always very lively after a big Irish football game and it was a battle to hear myself at times through the celebrations as you can appreciate.
My remit is to sing a mixture of everything at The White Swan so I am being stretched with songs I wouldn't normally choose to sing. I love singing more reflective songs and it does suit my voice better. Hope to see you again. Best, Kirsta
