As I parked up in the High Street and about to block the traffic for 15 minutes or so, I thought briefly about whether I was going to get the gear into the venue before the thunderstorm hit . . .Well, with help from Joe and Craig, not only did we not block the traffic but we completely missed the downpour.Outside was 29 degrees and about 80% humidity, inside was air-conditioned bliss.Set up in just an hour, I had time to sit down with family and have a natter.4 pm on the button and MatFin is into the set with two hours of eclectic music. Good audience reaction, nice venue and three return gigs planned for 2015 ~ Result. You should have been there . . .
Late starter? ~ Mr Finnish

Indeed it was ~ at 08:40 I turned around to pick up my in ear monitors for a sound check and they weren't where they blinking well should have been ! In a moment of startling revelation I recalled exactly where they were ~ and it was 12 miles away, sat on my desk in the studio (I'd been using them that afternoon finishing " I Call On You" and had packed them up, put them next to my laptop and making a mental note "don't forget them tonight" . . .So, at 08:41, I left The Jolly Old Pilot, jumped back in the van and drove home to pick up the offending articles. I made it back to the pub by 09:19, changed and was on stage with the chords of the first song at 09:32. I think I may have pushed the speed limits on one or more occasions but I'm probably mistaken . . .All in all, though, a good gig with some old favourites thrown in (that's songs not audience) and most staying till the very end (that's audience, not songs) ~ which I think is always a good test.Stay lucky and see you next month ~ First Friday; On Time.Matt
