Not being much of a New Year person, came across details of this gig and breathed a sigh of relief for a year without dear old Jools.
Had seen MoaS twice in the past couple of months, at the Swan, Ley Hill and The Green Man at Aylesbury and knew they wouldn't disappoint.
Despite Howard feeling a bit peaky, they played three tremendous sets to a very appreciative crowd, with all the old faves in evidence.
Do see them, they are ridiculously talented and the best of their kind by a country mile.
Really nice crowd, great bar staff and a really welcoming landlord with great beers made for a memorable night, topped off by them playing 'Africa' as an encore, after a bit of pleading from yours truly!
Much appreciated by all four of us: thanks guys, see you again soon.

Thanks very much for taking the time and trouble to post such a nice review. I was terrified of doing the gig as I was still under the weather from a delightful flu bug I picked up only days earlier!
We're glad you enjoyed our civilised alternative to the usual New Year's Eve nonsense!
From the very first song, I knew we'd made the right choice to travel down to St Albans from (the rather less pleasurable) Luton! The second song that these fantastic, true artists played was "Chasing Cars" of Snow Patrol fame.
It is a song close to my girlfriend and I's hearts, and the arrangement, vocal skill, and overall impacting performance blew the Irish band out of the water.
It felt such a treat to be there last night, with music we loved, the best pub dog in the world, the best pints for miles, an extremely friendly atmosphere - and a lovely lady's birthday cake!
Cannot wait to see Mouth on A Stick, and The White Lion, again!

We're really glad you enjoyed our stuff. We do genuinely try very hard to make the songs 'work' in a duo format and it's great to know that it seems to be working!
Look forward to seeing you again.
All i can say is what a night, Howard and Keith put on a fantastic show, with superb harmonies throughout the evening, and their choice of songs was inspired, we are really looking forward to return visit, as is every customer we spoke to, cannot thank you enough for a great night out Pat & Steve Miller

What a delight this evening was at The White Lion. Ruby Tuesday has always booked great bands but tonight we were truly spoiled by a talented duo.
This fine duo were refreshing and interesting, but most of all we could hear every word sung so tunefully from their mouths. Superb acoustics, a guitar virtuoso and songs that make you think back in time: Badfinger's "Come and Get It", Billy Joel's "Piano Man", Extreme's "Words", Lindisfarne's "Meet me on the Corner", Rod Stewart's "I Don't Want to Talk About It", The Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky" and "Lady Madonna", Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run"... current ones included Elbow, and Lily Allen's "The Fear", which all went down a treat.
The reason the songs sounded so brilliant is down to the harmonies which work on every single tune that they played. These chaps obviously enjoy working and playing hard together, there is a strong connection and it definitely shows (we were lucky enough to be at the very front to enjoy and witness this!).
I would recommend this duo to anyone who enjoys superb live, well played and rehearsed music without the complicated noise of a band that just sticks to simple karaoke style songs. Both Howard on vocals & bass and Keith on harmonica & guitar superbly complemented each other. They use their brains and vocal talents to bring us a range of songs that we all know, but sadly don't hear all that often.
If you enjoy good beer, a lively crowd and superb tunes, come and see these guys next time they are here at The White Lion!
