The Oddfellows Arms, Hemel Hempstead [Pub]

Amazing gig. Great atmosphere. McVicar always rock the joint when they play. Great selection of covers, everyone is always up on their feet dancing.

What a great gig at Oddfellows Fri night! The vocals were amazing and the music loud and powerful. The Nirvana song Come as you are was great to hear and my favourite Cults She sells sanctuary was fantastic. Cheers for playing my requested Pistols. You played it so well. I recommend seeing these guys. The nite was rocking at The Odds!

Given this was a Sunday afternoon gig, it was nice to go and see a band with the children in tow for a change. The Oddfellows Arms is quite a small venue, but the turn out was great providing a cosy, welcoming atmosphere.
In my opinion, McVicar - comprising Matt Johns on lead guitar, Guy Snelgar on drums, Martin Anderson on bass and John Lawler on guitar and lead vocals - are four musicians who blend together perfectly to produce great sound. In short, these guys are excellent. They also come across as really nice, friendly guys, who clearly enjoy what they are doing and with song choices designed to get the crowd joining in, their musical talents won everyone in the packed pub over.
There were covers from various genres through various decades with quite 'rocky' overall feel, which went down well with the crowd there - us included and they sure know how to get the crowd going. Amidst songs like "Hotel California", a never before heard version of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" as well as a fantastic performance of "I believe in a thing called love" from The Darkness, they played a cracking version of one of my all-time favourites in the Beatle's "Hey Jude!" Every single person in the pub engaged with this one, was singing and dancing along, including my 5 year-old, who loved it!
McVicar provide fantastic entertainment. I've seen them a good few times now at various venues and can honestly say they've never disappointed. I recommend them to anyone who wants a good sing-along and a boogie.
