One For The Road [Country Rock, 5 piece]
One For The Road play a fine blend of foot tappin', dance steppin', finger clickin', s*** kickin', moonshine sippin', bad ass Country Rock & Americana as well as the occasional good ol' Blues or Rock & Roll number thrown in for good measure. The band was first established in 2008 with the occasional personnel change over the years. Ever present members were Keith, Dave and Adrian. Sadly all that came to an end in February 2021 when Adrian passed away suddenly. An absolute shock to all the band members, friends and family and of course our loyal supporters. His memory and his legacy will live on and his spirit will always be on stage with us.PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PHOTO MONTAGE INCLUDES THE CURRENT LINE-UP AND ALL PREVIOUS LINE-UPS AND MEMBERS.Anyway, it's 2022 and we are delighted and excited to announce that One For The Road have reformed. Still with original members Keith Beasley and Dave Bigwood, there are now three brand new members, Baz Payne, Dave Hayward and Dave "Noddy" Holder. As well as their own highly acclaimed original material, they cover the likes of Tom Petty, Steve Earle, The Traveling Wilburys, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, The Eagles, Old Crow Medicine Show, Blackberry Smoke, Billy Joe Shaver, Travis Tritt, The White Buffalo, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Brooks & Dunn, Primal Scream, Ernest Tubb, Tony Joe White, Neil Young, Hank Williams, The Rolling Stones, JJ Cale, Jace Everett, Chuck Berry, The Faces..and moreOne reviewer commented that these guys 'really don't know how good they are'.The band was formed in 2008 and was very blues harmonica based. Some years ago that changed to fiddle when there was a change of personnel. However, the new line-up no longer features blues harp or fiddle, but now includes some excellent pedal steel guitar. This has given the band a whole new dynamic. There may be occasions when due to other commitments, a fiddle player may replace the pedal steel, and also the possibility that on some occasions at larger gigs, BOTH fiddle and pedal steel will appear making it a 6 piece. The photos on this page represent the various line-ups over the years with past and present members. The current line-up is as follows:Keith Beasley (Lead vocals and Rhythm guitar)Dave Bigwood (Lead and rhythm guitars, vocals and Backing harmonies)Barry 'Baz' Payne (Bass guitar and harmony vocals)Dave "Noddy" Holder (Drums & Percussion)Dave Hayward (Pedal Steel guitar)So with great vocals and harmonies, lead and rhythm guitars, some fine pedal steel playing, and all backed up with a strong rhythm of bass and drums these are the perfect ingredients for this recipe of Americana and Country Rock.Their first album was called Last Orders and featured lots of fantastic blues harmonica. It comprised of original songs and cover versions. The second album entitled The Last Coyote On Rattlesnake Highway featured great fiddle playing.Keith and Dave need no introduction to One For The Road's loyal supporters, having been there from the start. So, a bit about the new guys.Dave "Noddy" Holder (Drums & Percussion) actually has stepped into the shoes of Bob Pearce, when Bob decided to take some time out of playing. We are delighted to have Dave in the band (making it three Dave's in one band - not confusing!). He has played with various bands over the years, probably most notably in Wayne Fontana's (The Mindbenders) band. A lovely guy who brings a whole lot of fun and energy to the stage.Barry 'Baz' Payne (Bass guitar) has played with many bands and artistes including Bobby Davro, The Sharpeez, Brendan O'Neill (from Rory Gallagher/ Nine Below Zero), Billyboy Miskimmin (from Yardbirds/Nine Below Zero), Tony Coote (from Paul Weller and Ocean Colour Scene), Alan Glen (from Yardbirds/Nine Below Zero), Cliff Bennett and Mark Lundquist (Rebel Rousers), Roger Cotton (from Peter Green/ Buddy Whittington bands), Sam Kelly & Graham Walker (from Gary Moore bands), Skip Allen (from Pretty Things), Brian Willoughby (of The Strawbs). Clive Edwards (UFO) and many others. It is also fair to say that Baz has been there, done it.......and is still doing it! A fine player and a really good fella.Dave Hayward (Pedal Steel) Has played and still plays in a number of bands. A real nice guy who is a master of his trade on pedal steel, and the noise he makes on that is just..Wow!So an absolute wealth of experience and talent, these guys just wanna make a good noise! They wouldn't look out of place at some roadhouse in Texas, or a honky tonk in Nashville, or even some two-bit spit 'n' sawdust joint in Alabama and whilst they take the music they play very seriously, they're a good fun band who don't take themselves too seriously. You won't find any ego's hanging around in this band.As well as pubs, clubs, bars and festivals you can have these guys for your own special event, function or private party, probably for no more than the cost of one man, a few records and his 'disco' equipment.
