The Queens Head, Monmouth [Live Music Pub]
The Queens has now established itself as one of the premier venues for quality live music in Wales...A Lively & Historic Pub in the Heart of the Wye ValleyIn May 2013 the 16th Century Queens Head Pub in St. James' Street was purchased from the Pubco owners by the existing landlord and a full renovation has taken place whilst at the same time keeping all the properties individual characteristics. The ethos of the Pub remains the same 'making the Queens a welcoming pub for all', offering a relaxed ambience, and continuing to support live music. With a real log fire in winter, good ales and a warm welcome allied with beautifully re-furbished bedrooms, the Queens is definitely a pub for all. Excellent live music throughout the year. Some HistoryThe Queens Head was a frequent resting place for Oliver Cromwell and once an attempt was made to assassinate him. The unlucky cavalier was unsuccessful and was chased into the bar and shot. There have been many reported sightings of ghosts on the premises. We are quoted as being the third most haunted Inn in Wales.Need a room? - stay at The Queen'sAs well as offering excellent accommodation at a reasonable price for anyone wishing to stay in our beautiful town, The Queen's is in an excellent position to offer affordable bed and breakfast accommodation for walkers.
