10 Jun 2022back on lemonrock!
Finally The Rusty Rovers have reinstated onto the lemon rock platform after the enforced hiatus of 2020-2022!We have been enjoying 2 regular monthly performances, 1st Thursday at the Railway Guard in Epsom, 2nd Thursday at the Wheatsheaf in Ewell village.June has been a good month with the Jubilee celebrations kicking off for the Railway Guard and a great gathering at the Wheaty the following week.We aim to keep these 2 dates as regular as possible but there may be the odd change to the schedule due to holidays or other events.Richard will be away for the next couple of months so we will be getting help from John Mannel and Danny Edwardson.Big thanks to John at the Railway Guard and Mandy at the Wheaty for having us play but also for keeping their pubs going and thriving. Also thanks to all the friends and supporters for coming to listen and join in with songs and banter, long may this continue.

We had a great gig last night at The Cavern in Raynes Park.Noel Nevin runs a superb little venue and a pot of Irish stew was provided to go with the Guinness. The "new improved" 5 piece Rusty Rovers played for well over 2 hours covering many traditional fiddle and banjo tunes as well as some classic Irish songs (Leaving of Liverpool, Irish Rover, Fields of Athenry, Molly Malone...). A couple of Steve Earle songs where also aired (Galway Girl, Copperhead Road). Rich's new composition about curry houses was also performed! (Cool Mint Raita-popadom song)The crowd were well into the spirit of the St Patrick's day celebration and many were still there at midnight. Thanks to everyone who came along. The band was:Ed-Fiddle,mandolin,vox.Bill-Fiddle,voxRon-Banjo,bodhran, washboard, whistle,voxRich-Guitar, vox.Pete-Guitar, cahon, vox.Hope to see you at our next gig/open mic night, which is on Thursday 27th March 2014 at Jolly Coopers, Epsom - details on Lemonrock at:http://www.lemonrock.com/gig.php?id=321390Ed Hudson
